(2023 July): Had the chance to go back to 'Lax Cafe the other day and realized it has been almost a year since I was last here. Reminds me of that saying from noted philosopher and beloved raconteur F. Bueller: "life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." I ordered the same things as last time (omurice, chocolate chip cookie, strawberry cream soda) so I can finally take pictures, plus E. ordered a couple more (stir fry tofu rice, ube latte). Tasted the same as I remember from last time, so that was pretty good; they are at least consistent. E. found a new favorite coffee shop (she's been back there at least a couple of times after).

(2022 Sept): Was feeling hungry after class so I thought to go back to Beeken Crafted Burgers to get me some of those great chicken burgers (technically, a chicken sandwich) but for some reason, they were closed today (a Friday). Despondent, I started to walk towards the stairs when I passed by this cafe which somehow, I hadn't notice before. I decided to try it out, drawn in by the attractive design and welcoming ambience. The sparse menu featured mostly coffee drinks (naturally) but also some light meals and juices and sodas. The menu had omurice (which intrigued me since it's unusual to see it outside a Japanese restaurant) and because I wasn't looking for a heavy meal, that's what I ordered (php130). They also had these chewy-looking chocolate chip cookies (Php90) in a large cookie jar on the counter so of course I had to try those. And for drinks, I ordered a strawberry cream soda (php150). While waiting for my food to arrive, I looked around the nice, clean and minimalist interiors and took in the cool A/C and soft cafe music. People were quietly working or studying, taking advantage of the free wifi while nursing a few drinks. They also had an open-air section, probably for smokers, decorated profusely with indoor plants. The chocolate chip cookie arrived first. It was big -- probably as big as my fist. As I hoped, it was pleasantly nice and chewy, with big chunks of chocolate chips and walnuts (?). The strawberry cream soda arrived next -- basically just soda water with grenadine syrup (?) and a dollop of frozen cream (or was it vanilla ice cream?) on top. Then finally, the omurice. Nice fluffy omelette on top of steaming white rice with some tempura sauce (?) topping the whole thing. That's it. And it was good. I realized that I had forgotten to bring my phones with me so I wasn't able to take pictures. Oh well, I will just have to come back to try out their other offerings and take pictures. (I did go back later that evening and managed to take a couple...

The guy who "works" there today (1st September 2024 at 14:00) was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. We came in wet because of the rain and were cold because the AC is turned to 17 c°. And blowing right at us. I immediately asked to set the AC to 26° and the guy sets it to 21° a few minutes later when we felt we are going to get a cold because of wet clothes we asked again to set it to 26° and he finally did it. The problem remained that the AC was still set to high fan power and we are in the risk of getting sick if it continues to blow at us that strong. The guy simply ignored our requests multiple times and didn't set the fan on lower power. We couldn't sit somewhere else because this was the only place where we could sit comfortably and plug our laptops. We actually were forced to leave the place because the guy working there today is so unfriendly and unhelpful. This is the first time I gave a 1 star to anyone ever but it's well deserved. I have never encountered such a blocked and stubborn attitude from any coffeeshop employe ever. We actually went to another one down the road and everyone is friendly here and super helpful. If someone friendly is working there I'd be open to try the cafe again, but this person...

This café is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is both vibrant and warm, making it the perfect spot to relax, work, or hang out with friends. The space is thoughtfully designed, with a creativity corner that includes a piercing area, a selection of books to read, and lush greenery that adds to the cozy ambiance. Plus, the free WiFi makes it an ideal place to study or get some work done. The menu is fantastic, offering a variety of delicious drinks and comforting food. Whether you’re craving a rich, creamy latte or a refreshing iced tea, the bar has something for everyone. Everything is amazing and budget-friendly! This café truly brings together art, comfort, and great taste in one amazing space. Highly recommend checking it out! 🫶🏼
