We had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. It began when we were served a bottle of wine that was clearly not stored properly and could have easily led to poisoning. Then, our appetizers arrived without any small plates. We had to ask for them, just like we later had to request spoons for our rice dishes because they weren’t provided. Things only got worse! At one point, a server dropped our wine bottle, splashing water from the ice bucket all over our shoes. No one apologized. Instead, they simply picked the bottle up from the wet floor and placed it back in the bucket like nothing had happened. When we asked if they’d at least replace the portion of wine that spilled, MC the server came and raised the bottle while pointing at it and said “Well, you only have this much” Were they expecting us to drink a bottle that same bottle? When we raised our concerns, they spoke to us as if we were trying to get something for free—which was not the case at all. We were simply expecting a basic level of service and accountability. Jo Antonet came over eventually, but instead of addressing us directly, she stood behind me, expecting me to turn awkwardly to speak to her. If you’re truly sorry, you stand in front of the guest and make eye contact. If you’re truly sorry, listen before you speak. Not continuously cutting us off without understanding what you’re apologizing about.
Overall, it was a frustrating and uncomfortable dining experience. Hospitality is about more than just serving food. The worst part is having to pay the service charge, which clearly MC and Jo Antonet...
Read moreI was personally excited to visit this restaurant to see if the food quality and service are at par with its Tagaytay OG. With the welcoming facade and amazing interiors (albeit a bit crowded), I was set up from the start to have a great dining experience. Oh, boy, was I wrong, save for the receptionist, the first dining staff who took our orders, and the portobello truffle tagliatelle. The rest of the experience was like your typical casual dining restaurant, with dismal food for their prices and uncaring staff who just wanted to finish their service. The Cinco Carne pizza was probably the worst pizza I have ever had in my entire life. The crust was burnt brown on one side and barely cooked on the other side. To make matters worse, I bit on a ligament or tendon from one of the cinco carne. I billed out and called the attention of a server and showed her the ligament from the pizza. She did not know what to say except that she would call a manager. She got my bill and payment and I saw her angrily point to my table as she was telling her manager "May complain(t) dun sa table na yun oh!" with the tone of accusation, and not care.
The manager approached my table and I mentioned all my food complaints, to which he simply laid out his scripted "Thank you for letting us know yada yada and we will do better next time."
For those reading this, take your money elsewhere. This branch of Breakfast at Antonio's could do so much better. But if the management is as snobbish as that dining staff and as clueless as that manager, it is probably better to...
Read moreI opted to eat here with my daughter because there's tables available for us.
I do have high expectations because of my past experience at Antonio's in Tagaytay as well as in PGA Cars.
I ordered my usual Twice Cooked Adobo and I tried their Four Cheese Omelette without the Onions.
While waiting for our orders to arrive, I applaud the servers for being friendly to my daughter and to the other kids who are with their respective families too. They got crayons and coloring sheets available and not only that, the staff asked me if I need extra plates and smaller spoon and fork which I find exceptional and such an extra mile indeed.
I observed that the space is too crowded which makes it hard to pass by if there is a staff serving the food then you need to go to the restroom or to Pedro The Grocer. Also, the whole ambiance does not give justice to its home in Tagaytay.
So when our orders arrived, I got disappointed with the Twice Cooked Adobo already'coz it was too oily. The taste is the same as Tagaytay but the oilyness of the dish made it hard to finish.
The Four Cheese Omelette was just fine. Nothing special and the taste of the cheeses were overpowering each other. I can taste mozzarella and cheddar both at the same time while I cannot identify the other two but they all fight each other. There was no texture unless I put some salt to make the taste subtle.
I will just come back for Pedro The Grocer and the juices but...
