While I must admit that the location and ambiance of Tipulo were exceptional, I regret to say that my dining experience was marred by the disappointment of the food. As much as I wanted to give this place a stellar review, I can only award it 2 stars due to the subpar quality of the cuisine.
Let's start with the positives. The restaurant's location was undeniably excellent, charming atmosphere. It was the kind of place that made you want to stay and soak in the surroundings.
However, the same level of care and attention did not extend to the food. The menu offered an enticing array of options, but unfortunately, the execution fell short of expectations. The dishes lacked flavor and were poorly seasoned. It was evident that the culinary team did not pay sufficient attention to the quality and presentation of the food. Pancit was too salty. Kare-kare doesnt taste like kare-kare at all. Sisig has 90% onions, 7% pork fat and 3% meat. Lumpiang gulay was terrible. Fried rice was terrible. Price to quality ratio is terrible.
Service, too, was a letdown. While the staff was friendly and courteous, the wait times between courses were excessively long. This further added to the frustration of the dining experience.
Considering the fantastic location and ambiance, it is truly disheartening that the food did not live up to expectations. As a guest, one expects the culinary experience to match the overall atmosphere and be a highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, in the case of Tipulo, the food failed to deliver.
It is my sincere hope that Tipulo takes the necessary steps to improve the quality of their cuisine and enhance their service standards. With some significant improvements in these areas, they have the potential to become a standout dining destination that matches the allure of...
Read moreThis restaurant offers a decent dining experience, which I wouldn’t mind revisiting if I lived nearby. However, for those residing in the south, or even in areas like Makati or Mandaluyong, the long drive (around 1.5 hours from Makati on a Saturday) might not justify the trip.
Bulalo - The bulalo is the typical version you can get from Tagaytay, but the beef portions were disappointingly small. Each serving was as tiny as two spoons placed side by side, although the tenderness of the meat was just right.
Ensaladang Tokwa’t Baboy - While enjoyable, the dish would be better, in my opinion, without mayonnaise and with more tokwa’t baboy than cucumber slices.
Pritong Manok (fried chicken) - Although crispy, the chicken lacked flavor and tasted bland without ketchup.
Chili Pusit at Tahong - Despite a delicious sauce, the seafood failed to absorb the flavors well. The squid was overcooked and chewy, while the mussels were sizable but one was empty. At ₱595, I thought it’s overpriced for the limited portion size.
Okoy - A standout dish, pleasantly crispy and flavorful with a generous serving size.
The staff were excellent though. They were friendly, genuinely warm attentive throughout our meal. Despite a slight delay in serving our food (a little over the 20-minute mark), everything was served at the same time, which was good.
The ambiance of the place was pleasant, especially on cooler days or nights. However, dining here on a hot, humid day might be uncomfortable. Parking is ample.
Overall, while the food was enjoyable, it didn't offer anything truly special or unique, and the prices were a bit high. Next time we’re in Antipolo, we wouldn’t mind returning to try their...
Read moreNice place but.... the person replying on their Messenger account just keeps sending canned responses. I have a specific question and I have to ask a few times before I got the answer I needed. I also requested for a corner or side table upon reservation but when we arrived, they led us to a table that was in the middle of the room. So I had to explain to the staff that I specifically requested for a corner or side table. They still granted my request but it was embarrassing to be standing at the side waiting for them to move our table from one place to another. Once we've ordered, they served the drinks right away. But the food took a long time. So when they served our food, the ice on my partner's glass has already melted and my drink was not cold anymore. The food is also a bit cold. Only the rice was warm. Then I ordered a slice of cake and asked if they can serve it with a candle since we were there for a celebration. The staff said okay. I also asked him if I need to come back again on the counter or if I can just tell it to a waiter. The staff said I can just tell it to the waiter. Before I left the counter, I reminded him not to forget the candle and he said yes and not to worry. But when I asked for the cake, they did not serve it with a candle. So overall, the romantic dinner date that I planned for me and my partner failed. For a semi fine dining restaurant who takes reservations, they should take note of all the customer's requests. I felt like they didn't care about the customer's special plans. So if you're looking for a nice restaurant where you can surprise your loved ones,...
