I just discovered this place through my sister. We ate here to celebrate in advance my birthday. So, for the food, its a bit pricey for me, but, it is good value for money. The appetizer we had was crispy bean curd with shrimp. It was good. Not to oily despite being fried. The ration of the bean curd and the shrip was spot on. The bean curd patty was not to salty and it really goes well with the dip. The fish fillet with tausi was a bit oily but the taste was spot on and not too salty as well. We really go after the not too salty for some reason. Moving along, their dimsum, shrimp siomai was big and packed. We did not taste too much extenders. Its really tasty. Ordering this would be enough to fill you in if you are hungry. The soups, wonton noodle soup and chicken noodle soup, are very comforting. They also allow refills of the broth which was really good. The wontons like the shrimp siomai are big as well and has shrimps inside. I just wish they could add a little more of the chinese cabbage and pechay. To the ambiance, its more of a little canteen. There is very limited space to move around. Kudos to the staff who manages to move through between tables to serve the orders. I just wish they could transfer to a much bigger location. With their prices its not gonna be hard to pay for the rent. All in all I can suggest this place more on take outs so you can enjoy their food at the comfort of your own home. But if you choose to dine in, make sure to come early and have longer patience than usual coz the place tends to get packed very quickly. Also, there is very limited parking, but parking is allowed on the side...
Read moreWe were excited to finally try Aca Chan, a cozy Chinese comfort food spot in San Juan that came highly recommended. The experience did not disappoint, offering clean, comforting flavors without the usual excess of oil or salt.
We started with the Char Siu, which featured generous cuts of pork, perfectly balanced with soy sauce. It wasn’t too fatty, and the lack of excessive coloring was a nice touch, giving it a more natural appeal. The garlic broccoli was cooked to perfection, retaining its crunch, while the homemade shrimp siomai stood out for being lighter and less fatty than most — delightfully tender and fresh.
The cucumber salad was refreshing, though I would’ve liked the cloud fungus to have a bit more tang to round out the dish. Still, overall, everything was well-prepared and satisfying. We’re already planning our next visit to try more of their menu, especially the chicken and noodles.
The service was equally commendable — friendly and efficient despite a bustling crowd. For those seeking authentic, well-executed Chinese comfort food, Aca Chan is definitely worth a visit. Highly...
Read moreNon salty not msg loaded but tasty foods. Siomai is very good, mushroom, meat and. Shrimp mix. The cha sui is a bit dry but tasty. The spring onion chicken is good and very with the sauce. The marinated duck is interesting. Soften duck meat is kinda non traditional taste. Portions are very generous also( di ma umay ma busog ka! ) Table setup with medicinal soup and chinese tea makes the experience exceptional.
Second visit tried noodles. The marinated beef is exceptional, the mushroom balls and "Octopus "balls is very very good. Although I think it should be Cuttlefish balls.
Interesting chinese food in a non- chinese food area. Note this is not traditional cantonese nor fookien food. Its unique in taste. Like the Steam chicken feet is note NOT SWEET but sour.
Would help the pinoy crowd if the menu shows the pictures of the dish. Even chinese would not be that familiar with...
