Tried this Resto for lunch with friends. We ordered noodles with squid ink, fried chicken, pata dish, dinuguan, Laing, steamed rice and Amadeo coffee. Coffee was 1st served, though we requested to have it served last. We had a few sips, it was a dismay, no aroma, no bitter taste at all. Our waiter suggested, “add the fresh milk and brown sugar.” It wasn’t a fresh milk but, an evap milk. Still, the warm, not hot coffee didn’t please us. The other waiter removed the cups of coffee when we complained that it had no taste at all. We were told that it was from a “roasted rice.” Then, we had the noodles or pansit bihon with squid ink. The ink just added a blackish color on the noodles but, didn’t give a distinctive taste to it. It should have been mixed with the right seasonings to suit the added squid ink. It was just like an ordinary noodles, nothing special about it. The fried chicken was tender, mild taste with a thin crispy batter, which we liked. My sis enjoyed the pata dish, too fatty for the rest of us. The pork dinuguan, was mediocre, dark brown in color instead of black. Per owner, it had lemongrass (tanglad) but, maybe, not enough. Need to add more and other seasonings to cover-up the after taste of the blood. Laing with 1 shrimp on top had a tinge of sweetness? Any dish that has a coco milk would give a creamy taste. The leaves need more soaking overnight (dried leaves) to soften the leaves and add more coco milk until oil appears. That would create a native, delicious dish. The coffee was re-served. This time, with a little bitter taste and hot. This was the 1st time we ever tasted a rice coffee. We prefer still the real coffee beans. Foods weren’t really special in terms of taste, so with the presentations. Price, average. Need to renovate their rest room. Hard to open door from inside. The lock was rustic and the entire room was not pleasing...
Read moreA new spot that we discovered recently. Place is really heavenly with ample parking space and main dining is big and rustic. Its like a big garden and a very good instagrammable place.
Entrance is enticing with lots of plants. Vines, old sewing machine turned into table and several multicolored plants adorn the entrance of Asiong. Crew are very accommodating.. herbs and spices are very fresh as they get it from their own garden and there is an open garden area where you can also eat with your companion.
If you are lucky, you will be serenaded by a music band while waiting for your food. Serving size of food is good for 3 to 4 pax and pricing is reasonable. A must try is their signature pancit pusit (black pancit because of the ink of the squid) and dalahikan soup (mixed seafood in tomato soap). Try also the french baguette and kesong puti in olive oil and herbs as this are a tasty treat.
Asiong accepts credit card and do take out. They also sell plants especially the higher-end kind and place is wazable but mind that this is far from the main road but if you are a plantita/plantito, nearby brgy sell a different plants ( from usual to rare) for a cheaper price so you can come here after your plant haul.
My only negative comment/downside in Asiong is their serving time because you need to wait for over an hour for your food to be served in your table so if you are really famished or want a quick bite, you may not appreciate it.
P.S. nowadays, please bring jacket as the weather tends to be cold and windy and because this is an open space, you will feel the fresh and cool air (which is very...
Read moreThis restaurant is a joke. I came all the way from Orange County California and very excited to try their well publicized pansit pusit thanks to Sandy Daza (I’m a big fan btw). One reason I go back to the Philippines next to my siblings is the food. Coming from Manila and after few attempts because of the usual traffic we finally made it to the famous restaurant in Silang Cavite. We placed our orders of the pansit pusit, lengua & Bicol express and waited a while before the food came and more excitement was building up. After taking few pictures the food finally was served. To our dismay the popular pansit pusit wasn’t good because it lacks the distinct taste of the pusit and there’s barely pusit in the pansit. What is going on here? Isn’t Cavite a coastal province? Moving on, the lengua was served with small scraps of meat. Leftovers from the weekend? To be fair the Bicol Express was fairly good. Although serving was small we didn’t finish the food and left disappointed. The food was pricey you would think you’ll get a better product. What a disappointment. The ambiance was nice though but you go for the food not the place. The humble turo-turo might be a better choice for a...
