re: Service -- staff (cashier, waitress) were clearly overworked and as a result, were not welcoming nor accommodating to guests. Asked one of the staff for another slice of lemon for the seafood fried rice and you know what she said? That I ask the waitress instead of her LOL. She was just sitting there too. Badtrip hahaha
re: Time -- do not eat here if you're looking for a quick meal because there is nothing quick about their service. I think we waited more than half an hour for such disappointing food. 4 plates. I know everything is NOT being made from scratch. Please do better
re: Food portions // prices -- smaller than expected especially for the price point! Hindi cheap dito but everything screamed CHEAP! From the hygiene to the service to the food items
re: Atmosphere -- roadside so it is noisy. It's also quite dusty, so the table we were seated in had a layer of grime lol
re: food quality in general -- not good! so disappointing. And we were so excited too because we did a u-turn pa to try it out. Sana pala hindi nalang kami nag u turn
Had lunch here with my family today, and we ordered the following:
Seafood Fried Rice (180) For the price, you'd assume there's a bit more premium handling with the rice, but that felt like yang chow in a carinderia. FYI-- one shrimp does not a seafood fried rice make. The only difference between this and the rice bowls with fried rice was the one shrimp. LMAOOO
Chicken satay + fried rice (280 i think?) this was a bowl chicken satay was three tiny sticks. And the fried rice is literally the same as the one for the "seafood fried rice". The sauces tbh were good but everything else ... pass
Fresh roll 4pcs (200ish??) i have had better fresh rolls. I dont understand how your whole thing is being a Thai restaurant and none of the items we ordered tasted authentic?
Fried Chicken and fried rice bowl (200+?) this one looked good naman. The fried rice, again, was horrible. The chicken looked ok and masarap naman daw
Thai milk tea this one naman, ok na. I think its at 130 per drink. Big size and cold. It is after all the typical thai tea so i guess theres smaller...
Read moreIT'S FUNNY THAT THE OWNERS OF SOM THAI RESPONDED AFTER MORE THAN 12 HOURS. AND INSTEAD OF GIVING ME A DIRECT REPLY, THEY'VE ACTUALLY PREEMPTED GOOGLE...I've dined in this now quite shabby, very Pinoy provincial-looking resto by Aguinaldo Highway late last year. While it claims to have "authentic" Thai cuisine, what was served to my quite big group wasn't really Thai. It tasted more like Chinese-Filipino. I asked if they have a resident Thai Chef as they claim to be authentic, but I got "no" for an answer. So maybe that's why the taste is NOT AUTHENTIC. Even the ambience is not Thai while there are a few Thai elements here and there. You'll definitely think and feel that you're just dining in an unair-conditioned eatery in Silang, Cavite along Aguinaldo Highway. Service is so-so while they have attendants who don't seem to know much about their menu. In Bangkok, street-food dining is very informal but you know it's clean. You'll hardly see live decorative plants but for sure, service is faster than fastfood and you'll see them cook your food right in front of you. So much for authenticity, a Filipinized version of Thai cuisine may appeal to the local palate but at the end of the day, you come out as FAKE. SOM THAI HAS "DETERMINED" THAT MY REVIEW IS "FRAUDULENT AND SUSPICIOUS". HELLO? NOBODY IN THE WORLD WILL MAKE A LONG REVIEW LIKE THIS IF IT WERE NOT TRUE. AND WHO DID I DECEIVE IN A CRIMINAL WAY? WHAT WAS SUSPICIOUS IN MY REVIEW? I WAS JUST STATING FACTS BASED ON MY GROUP'S ACTUAL EXPERIENCE IN SOM THAI SILANG. BESIDES, GOOGLE WOULD KNOW AND BE ABLE TO FILTER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRUE AND FAKE. ATTN: SOM THAI OWNERS DO TAKE NOTE THAT PEOPLE WILL BE MORE CURIOUS TO READ MY REVIEW BECAUSE OF YOUR...
Read moreWe went on a Saturday evening and it might have been a bad time since we were looking for a cozy, quiet dining experience but there was blazing live music that made conversation among diners close to impossible, even the order takers struggled to hear our orders, even missing an item we ordered.
Som Thai is known as a local favorite for Thai dishes which has since expanded to offering other cuisine such as Japanese and Taiwanese, among others. They now even have a separate coffee kiosk, and what seems like an al fresco comedy bar.
From their Thai menu, we ordered the Tom Yum soup, Mango Sticky Rice, Chicken Satay, Pad Thai, and Stir-Fried Beef Combo. Off all these, the mango sticky rice stood out as the most remarkable food. The Tom Yum soup was okay but I've had better, and the Pad Thai was a tad too sweet for my liking. The Chicken Satay was a miss and was even brought in with a spiced vinegar sauce (???) and a chili sauce -- definitely far from authentic chicken satay served with a peanut sauce.
We also ordered katsudon rice bowl, which had a flour breading instead of a nice crunch had they used japanese bread crumbs as should be for a katsudon.
Diners are asked to pay upon order and get all their cutleries and themselves. BIR registered Official receipts issued only upon request.
The place is Al fresco and located along Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, right beside the pavement so we were startled when trucks and buses swiftly drove by. For those mindful of road safety, more dining area is available further inside. Sufficient signages abound against feeding the stray cats, and keeping a close eye on belongings at all times.
This self-service dining option has an estimated order value of...
