Bahay Kawayan is one of those restaurants that has been in Taytay for decades. Most native Taytayeños would definitely know this and would have definitely celebrated one of their occasions in this restaurant. Oldies, and I mean those whose relatives and forefathers are from Taytay, would prefer to dine here over other restaurants. They have function rooms that you can use to make your occasions private.
This restaurant is located along Rizal Avenue, farther feomt he famous Taytay Tiangges if you are coming from Manila and on your way to Angono, Rizal. It is very near to NCBA and just after Puregold Supermarket.
The restaurant serve traditional Filipino food that everyone loves. It is only in this restaurant that I normally have the chance to taste Pesang Dalag (aside from our house though), ensaladang mangga and other dishes. Of course they serve everybody's favourite, Crispy Pata, pritong manok and others.
And one more, outside the restaurant are regular street vendors selling other delicacies, including roasted and adobong kasoy or cashew nuts. Try this one, I'm sure you will...
Read moreThis place is one the oldest and most reliable restaurants in the area. Its vibe is like that of a traditional, family-oriented, the one your grandma and grandpa would ask you to go to after every Sunday church service.
Its menu is extensive. Its got stews (sinigang, nilaga) cocomilked ("ginataan"), etc. I especially like their Sinigang na Kanduli unlike the others' which usually done hush-hush ("minadali") and turned out to be "malansa", I enjoyed sipping every spoon of it. I also love their version of Pakbet, had it not been for shrimp bagoong (due to allergy), I would have gobbled up a bowl-full of its nicely done and still crispy veggies.
Facilities are quite old - heavy wooden sturdy chairs and tables, bright and high-ceilings. It's got high chairs for babies and toddlers; enough parking for cars. Very accessible...
Read moreIf you're craving delicious Filipino cuisine, Bahay Kawayan in Taytay is a must-visit. In fact, I've been here for more than 5 times already. The food is tasty, and affordable, and the servings are generous, perfect for sharing with 2-3 people.
The caramel crème puff is a standout treat you have to try. The service is quick, and the staff is super friendly and accommodating, making you feel right at home.
The place may not be the most modern, but it's cozy and comfortable. Just a heads-up, parking can be tight during weekend lunches, but that's a sign of how popular this spot is.
Overall, Bahay Kawayan is one of the go-to restaurants in the Taytay area, offering a fantastic Filipino dining experience that keeps people...
