The Mexican Review without all the hipster fluff wording... Service..was awesome.. kind, attentive, and deserve to be tipped Food..I only tried the beef nachos, birria tacos, and pork burrito --- homemade nacho chips were on point👍🏾but couldn't really see the beef and no queso fresco on nachos like on the pics here:( Mexican love queso fresco..white lil morsels of cheese) --- birria taco tortilla shell was crispy and tasty. I really appreciate the effort it takes to make or source the all the tortillas🙏🏽 Now the birria was decent for unexpected spot in Ph..price is ok for attention and quality provided --- pork burrito was pretty good in taste and size for the price. Plenty of rice which is good but really missed the taste of refried beans which i didn't really see and had bit small portion of pork carnitas Atmosphere.. the vibe is nice with the colors, lighting, and decor but for God's sake please no Ed Sheeran music;) ..maybe some reggaeton (not mexican music but close enough and Filipinos like it)
In all, for me it's a 4.6 as a Chicano from LA who's had plenty of resto type mexican food in EU, Asian, and Latino America (my qualifier;)
If you've had mexican food in LA or Mexico you'll know the staples are quality tortillas (flour and corn), rice and beans...almost all dishes include diced onions and tomatoes, cilantro, and lime (or calamansi;).. with a nice spicy red and tasty green salsa on the side...... that being said they're not far here at La Cocina... Don't forget the beans!;) Mad respect for making your own tortillas..it makes all the difference 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I'll be back to try more:)
Btw there's a new menu I didn't take pic of Don't believe there breakfast anymore which is sad bc I wanted to try the chilaquilles con...
Read moreThis is a very cozy and quiet place. This place is a bit hidden so you can have some sort of privacy. I personally loved the atmosphere, sticking to its Mexican theme. Menu is well made with excellent staff.
Food selection covers a variety of options for each dish, but only have a few dishes to choose with. This is not a bad thing since this is made up for the different variety of their dishes. Food is excellently well made with a pleasing plating. For a Mexican-style cuisine, the taste is up to its themed palate at minimum: scrumptious rice with its meat all neatly placed and well balanced with its sauce and salsa.
Service is top quality with staff knowledgeable of their menu. They are prompt and ready to serve your inquiries and carries well with their smile. Despite this, they have limited parking even for motorcycles due to the limitation of the location.
Overall, this is a beautiful, cozy, and private restaurant that fills your calm mood after a brief stroll in Valencia. A good option for the small...
Read moreI was somewhat unsure of where exactly this restaurant was located because its not readily visible from the street. I was able to find it much more easily after dark because the very cool neon sign hanging in their window becomes a beacon. Food was great, atmosphere pleasant and service impeccable. I like the attention to small details the owner/operator of this establishment emphasizes. The skill with decorating the interior along with pristine cleanliness as well as the choice of background music and A/C just further enhances the overall dining experience. A little thing like the extra effort to wrap your beer to help keep it cold is another example of how this restaurant is being expertly managed. I'm kind of a Tex Mex food fanatic and this was the best I've had locally. It isn't quite at the same level as some of what I loved eating in the USA but considering the somewhat limited access to ingredients(like fresh jalapeños) available here, its still delicious and...
