We stayed at Kurna Chata at the end of our holiday in Swinoujscie. Although the website states with a phone number to make a reservation, this is not possible here.
When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy and you had to wait to get a table. In itself, this is not a problem, but we and the ever-lengthening queue behind us were left standing in the entrance without any communication. We felt unwelcome and out of place. We wanted to sit outside first, whereupon the wet seats were frantically dried. Then, when we were seated and it had started raining again, we were told they would not serve outside in the weather, whereupon we were given a table inside the shop. After this odyssey, we were finally able to order and relatively quickly the food was at the table. Freshly prepared and hot. In terms of taste and portion size, you'll be absolutely full here and at a reasonable price. The ambience tries to lure you into another world, which partly works.

Read moreGreat old Polish cottage restaurant. DON'T even think about asking Google to translate "Kurna Chata"! It'll be totally wrong. The place is a dream and not the boring mainstream. The food is well prepared and selected with great care. The restaurant is decorated in an unique way and it was a great joy visiting there. The waitresses did not speak German. What a nice surprise ☺ I love handling my business in English.
When thinking that all has been perfect, we had a huge surprise with ... not the bill ... but with the desert. They serve no cake BUT coffee and ice cream 😋 The ice cream had Moroccan mint leaves and blue berries added. That was nice 👌 however, the best was the cow 🐄 porcelain, which was offered for adding milk to the coffee. Super cute!
That wasn't my last visit at this place and I can...
Read moreSolid Balkan food but nothing wow. Been here a few years ago, and unfortunately, especially the pierogi have been way better back then. Kinda kitschy set-up, and friendly service.
They now have a 2nd branch closer to the Promenada with the same menu. But this other place, previously Rybna Chata, was also way more authentic or homecooked when I ate there last time. Also, it was more intriguing to have something else on the menu.
Sad to see that the very few remaining traditional restaurants turn more and more into tourist-only places, dishing out a lot of convenience food. But hey, seems to pay the rent, and caters for a different audience than me.
4 starts because they at least cook some local dishes which are a rare find in this...
