When passing through ''Świętojańska'' street, you would almost overlook this small restaurant cornered just before the Empik store. From the outside you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this restaurant and the many other eat-drink restaurants or kebab diners that you can find in Gdynia; but looks can be very deceiving.
When seated we were almost immediately greeted by a very friendly and enthusiastic host, Ivan, who takes the word service to a higher level. Despite being the only host at the moment of our visit, he made sure to give each guests enough attention and time to make anyone feel like they were the star-guest of the restaurant.
Food allergies? No problems here; the kitchen offered a variety of options that will make sure that almost anyone with special requirements can enjoy their meals here.
The food itself is of high quality; much better than you would expect when seeing the restaurant from the outside. Our ordered: ''Golonka po Połtawsku'' or ''Poltava pig knuckle'' had meat so tender that by merely looking at it, made it drop from its bone. It came served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut which, for being side-dishes, also received no neglect as is often the case with side-dishes.
In hindsight I am unable to conceive why this place, offering such good food/quality for its prices, didn't have a long line of guests waiting to take place at this restaurant.
I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, be it that they want to sample a taste of the Ukrainian kitchen or that they are simply looking for a good meal when...
Read moreFood was not bad, but too little if you're hungry. I felt uncomfortable when the waitress "kept asking" where am I from many times, when you ask something and your costumer avoids answering, it means they don't want to. Don't keep asking personal questions. Also there is hidden costs,a little, but still I don't like it when they add costs to your bills. Also bathroom lamp had a sensor outside the bathroom! Wait, what? It turned off after few minutes and you couldn't have light, had to finish in total darkness until you leave the bathroom to come to the sink. Overall, costumer relationship was very poor. Keep your distance from customers lives, it doesn't matter where they are from, who is their date, etc, want to be friendly, just ask about weather! Also the restaurant was almost Empty but he wanted to push us towards the worst seats close to the door. That was even more uncomfortable. I would suggest the managers to learn, costumers wants to feel welcome and be honest about the...
Read moreFantastic Ukrainian Cuisine and Wonderful Service!
My group of children and I have been dining at Kulinarna Uraina for two years now, and we consistently have a fantastic experience. The food is absolutely delicious and authentic Ukrainian cuisine, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive. Every visit has been a pleasure, and all the kids always leave happy and full!
It's a real shame to see some of the one-star reviews; in my opinion, these likely stem from a place of prejudice rather than an honest assessment of the restaurant's quality. This establishment clearly puts a lot of love into its food and service.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a truly great Ukrainian...
