Śląska Prohibicja — Restaurant in Katowice

Yesterday I had some diner here together with my girlfriend. I am not a tourist I come to Poland for my work. So I allready know the polish kitchen very good and I really like polish food.

As a starter we take snitka. I was looking for the bread but I could only find one slice of bread… what I must do with this one slice first of all? After I take golonka and my girlfriend beef cheek in some kluski sort of. The Golonka I would rate this a 6 there was nothing special. And the potato with kapusta was really not good . My girlfriend is from this regio so she know the regional food good. The chef put too much of one specific spice that took over all the dish. The kluski from my girlfriend was baked too long and was a little hard and dry .

When the waiter come to ask if everything is good I told him NO and I explain it to him. There was nothing done from the service so I was thinking it’s better to leave and go to some different restaurant . So I pay them the money and was waiting for my change . Then the waiter look at me strange as I was waiting and ask me: ohh you want change ?????? I told him ofcourse I want my change! You think I will give a tip for food what was not good ?? This is crazy there was no shame asking me for a tip when serving me bad food.

If one of my personal would ask something like this after a mistake like this he would lose his job.

I ask myself how it is possible that there are so much good reviews when the food was really bad. I think the owner of this company buy the most of the reviews. Don’t waste your money here. You can eat much better food everywhere.

And for the owner please don’t put a fake message under my reaction like you do at the rest of the customers. I read many of them. And you talk much only you don’t say anything that solf the problem. What a joke this restaurant is. You can even eat better food at Zabka 😂

Like I ask you. If you put a reaction please don’t put a “fake” reaction where you actually say NOTHING. Your reaction makes no difference the only thing you do is try to talk your personal good. And no there was no language barrière they all understand me good because they take my order also in English . Next to this I was with a polish woman so that’s also not true. In your review I see nothing about how you will try to make is good? Because you only defend yourself. For me by putting this reaction you are just a amateur who make some financial succes. But we customers are just a number here of who you only want the money and nothing more. As a real owner would actually do something about the bad reviews of customers. For the people who read this, please go somewhere else. Believe me the food and service is everywhere...

Visited during Starcraft 2 championship. I missed signing season with top players since restaurant had only limited reservations but it was worth it.

Ii was probably one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had. Decided to order classic: zur was incredible, I usually like it with lot of pepper but they serve it quite delicate, when you can feel every taste, all different meats. It was excellent, smokiness of sausage was perfect and white sausage was so good.

Roulade is another classic and again it didn't disappoint. Tender meat, traditional potato dumpling were to kill for and melted in my mouth. You can get seconds for free too! Even sauerkraut was on another level: sweet, like never tasted before, fresh and warm.

Dessert was great too, drinks were good but could have been a bit better, not complaining at all. Service was perfect, sorry I don't know name of my servant but she has provided the best, wasn't very talkative which I like but helped me with some of my choices when I asked her to.

Menu card is cool too: you might wait few minutes for your food to arrive and it's nice distraction and provides some interesting info about region. Or you can check your phone, up to you.

They have massive choice of wines, not really my things, would prefer more crafts beers to be honest, but hey, can't have everything.

This is a must visit establishment in Katowice, not the cheapest, but what's cheap in those crazy times.

It is based in Nikiszowiec neighbourhood which is fascinating and I would recommend having a stroll after your meal. And then come back for round two.

All in all, we enjoyed our lunch as much as we could by all the aspects possible. Very much recommend this place to anyone.

I have found this place by an accident but let me tell you it was happy little accident. At first even approaching this place felt amazing as the surroundings are simply beautiful. Then the entire process from entering, being greeted and seated was very warm and welcoming.

We were immediately offered menus in English and our servers were very easy to talk to. They made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our lunch to the fullest. I can only recommend this place from every single perspective. The menus were very informative and also we were introduced to the composition of our meals by our server.

The food tasted amazing, from the cold soup (it was supposed to be a cold soup) that was perfectly balanced with different tastes. To the main course as well as the desert, that was a weekend speciality and the cake was surprisingly cut beside our table. Only negative thing I could mention was that our drinks were overly sweet, but that is rather a matter of preference and also our server was very eager to react to our request and refill the drink with a bit more water.
