We visited this place often. There were problems with service. But on Friday and Saturday (8-9/09/2023) it was just terrible. Therefore, I decided to write a review, hope the management will pay attention to the service sector. On Friday, our friend and her son came to Charlotte and sat at a table on the terrace, waiting for my wife and me. This table had only 2 chairs and when we arrived, we asked the waitress to take two free chairs from other tables. She said that there were no available and would not let us sit. That we should go and sit inside. Although there were chairs free even without the visitors' bags. A few minutes later we moved to another vacant table with a large number of chairs and we borrowed one free chair from the next table ourselves. When we sat down, the waitress came and said displeasedly and rudely that it was impossible to change seats without her permission. Although we hadn’t even order yet and didn’t understand at all what the problem was. There were no other people waiting either. It was very unpleasant, but then the waitress communicated well. The next day, my wife and I came for brunch, sat at a table, waited about 10 minutes and when the waiter walked by, we called him. He also answered us dissatisfiedly that he would come over now. He came over and took our order. We ordered sandwiches, coffee, juice and a chocolate-caramel tartlet. But he was poorly oriented in the assortment of cafe. In the end, he didn’t understand us and brought just caramel instead of a tartlet. The juice was full of pulp and not at all as tasty as yesterday. We waited an hour for our sandwiches, no one brought them to us. I went to find out how much longer to wait. And I found out that they had been forgotten. We paid and left. No one even apologized for forgetting about the order or for dessert. We were once so pleased with Charlotte on plac Zbawiciela and so disappointed with the Charlotte in Wilanów. The service is not customer oriented at all. Two unpleasant situations in two...
Read moreThis was a second of our visit there. First one we spent around 150 zloties for breakfast and the bread. The food is very good, I’d say better than any Parisian brasserie. The coffee is very good. The bread ( any kind) is outstanding. Very pleasant seating outside. So here comes our second visit with our intention to have a nice breakfast and to buy more bread. Unfortunately it is our second and the last visit due to a very unpleasant situation. Let me describe: The waiter comes and asked what we would like to drink. We ordered regular coffee and a latte. My wife ordered a salmon sandwich but I had asked for a paper menue which the waiter brought. I wanted to order breakfast which includes coffee. He said my coffee order was already in the system as a separate order and can’t be included as a part of breakfast/coffee combo. I told him it makes no sense to create this kind of a hostage situation and I’ve asked to cancel the salmon sandwich order so we would just pay for our coffee and go. He said the order was already in the system and charged us for it. He brought the wrapped up sandwich to go. We paid for 2 coffees and the sandwich and left the place with a great feeling of disappointment. If you’re reading it you might think it was not a big deal and you would say I should have placed the order and pay for the extra coffee. Of course it’s not going to break me but I TRULY HATE THIS KIND OF TREATMENT AND THE HOSTAGE SITUATION IS ALWAYS A DISQALIFYING FACTOR AT THE RESTAURANT FOR ME. The inability of the waiter to handle this in a smooth way is to me quite upsetting. I hope the owner of the place reads this review and realizes the significant loss of income from the clients like myself . Especially in our competitive world with so many...
Read moreTo call it a French restaurant is like calling the Louvre "a building with some paintings." Hon hon hon! The food is far nicer than anything those beret-wearing, cigarette-dangling Parisians could dream up in their most wine-soaked reveries. Clearly, actual French cuisine has been holding out on us all these years!
The service has usually been polite in my experience, with staff speaking good English—a shocking departure from authentic French dining where waiters traditionally communicate exclusively through dismissive snorts and theatrical eye-rolls.
However, they do occasionally succumb to that universal restaurant affliction: Spontaneous Staff Evaporation Syndrome. One memorable evening, our waitress simply vanished into thin air—perhaps whisked away to Narnia or conscripted into a secret mission of gastro-espionage. We waited a full 30 minutes for our order, left to ponder life's great mysteries like, "Has she fled the country with our credit card information?" and "Is there a portal to another dimension in the kitchen?"
In France, they call this "authentique service"—where waiting for your food is considered part of the cultural immersion, like viewing the Mona Lisa from 30 feet away behind bulletproof glass. Here, it's just called "Where the hell did Amélie go and why am I still staring at an empty bread basket?" YB
Bon appétit! (If your food...
