I hate giving bad reviews to restaurants but feel visitors to this part of the world should be forewarned. The menus look like they were written and printed out by a child but we thought 'what the hey, when in Portugal etc etc'
We paid pretty much 50 Euros for a meal of tuna steak, a meal of 6 sardines and a jug of sangria.
The inside of the place looked okay, kind of a whiff of rustic atmosphere but we were made to sit outside with all the smokers, staring at clapped out childrens coin-op rides and what appeared to be an abandoned, steel fish serving bar maybe? I don't know. Just ugly and awful environment. Waiters were scruffy, one of them seemed sincere in hoping we enjoyed the food but tbh, I think he was just very pleased we were about to pay so much money.
The sangria was absolutely VILE - made from the cheapest of the cheap red wines, it made you wince, there was no sweetness, no spice - it just tasted like someone had smashed a load of mint leaves in to awful red wine, it left a scum round the glass. Avoid, 20 Euros a jug!
The sardines were just six, ugly brown, dry sardines dumped on a plate, felt ridiculous scraping flakes of overly strong fish meat from their ragged skeletons.
The tuna steak was edible, just, if a little too soft, but served in a plain brown 'stew/sauce' gloop - that was poured over the steak so you couldn't even see it. This came with one piece of wet, boiled broccoli, a few slices of carrot and some cabbage, I think.
Truly one of the worst meals we have ever had and was heartbroken to have to hand over so much money. Honestly wouldn't have minded the cr4p food and drink if it came with an appropriate price tag, of say 7 Euros each.
Everyone experiences a crappy meal on holiday once in a while and this was our first and hopefully last. This small part of Albufeira is a bit of a food desert but would urge you to trust your instincts and avoid this place. I wish all small businesses and eateries well but this place NEEDS a...
Read moreWe arrived at 8.25pm and sat outside. Two more tables were occupied. We waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged and presented with food menus. We were told the dish we intended to order wasn't available and only so between 7-8pm. We reluctantly ordered an alternative and as we were not offered a drinks menu we had to request one. Meanwhile another couple had sat down nearby and were promptly served with drinks. At 8.55pm, tired of waiting my husband went to the bar to enquire why our drinks still hadn't arrived. He was surprised to see how few tables were occupied. He enquired, of the three people behind the bar, why there was such a delay and found the waiter dispensing my drink from a box underneath the counter. Our drinks eventually arrived and again we complained to the waiter about the delay and quality of service. He made no apology and was quite surly and practically blamed us for not ordering the drinks earlier. Usually restaurants offer to serve drinks on arrival. At 9pm we didn't feel our complaint had been addressed and left. Within 5 minutes we were seated at another restaurant with our pre meal drinks served by...
Read moreThe staff just didn't look like they want to be there at all. Very unwelcoming and only gave curt answers to the questions we asked. When the food arrived; the burger came without a bun. We ordered 2 Chicken Piri Piri. But they were put into a single serving to share between 2 people. Why? Given it needs 2 extra plates to eat from, it means more washing up. The only reason I could think of is to reduce the size of the serving, which we feel is not enough for 2 people. The waiter just puts down the food. Didn't ask whether we need any sauces or ketchup. Just walks away and never to be seen again. The food is not exceptional, just edible. And it's not cheap either. Utterly...
