We were presently surprised by how much we enjoyed our dinner for two at Tasca Portuguesa, situated as it is in a “strip mall” of tourist eateries, souvenir shops, and ticket sales booths for boating excursions based out of the adjacent Marina Albufeira.
First of all, the service was excellent by our 2 servers (Sabi and Luis). They were affable, professional, and attentive without hovering, and they ensured all our dishes were arranged for sharing. They added personal warmth to the comfortable and inviting atmosphere of the outdoor seating - which was perfect for our 15kg dog, who sat quietly next to us.
The big surprise was just how good the food was. We had an assortment of entradas, tapas, and one main dish, all of which was shared. Olives and bread, of course. Sautéed mushrooms. Grilled garlic prawns. Fish skewer (generous cubes of salmon and monkfish). Tasca house salad. Each was prepared to perfection, and appetizingly presented.
The cost was €60, including beverages. Quite reasonable, given its waterfront location at a Mecca for tourism.
This was our last evening meal in Portugal after ~3 weeks traveling down the coast. We are delighted that it ended on a such a pleasurable note.
Highly recommended if looking for terrific Portuguese food at...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. All food is frozen and reheated. Could not eat the cod or steak. Even the potatoes were inedible as they had been cooked and reheated. Steak was not done medium rare, was well done. It was in a salty soup like gravy. I have neverr seen steak served like this before.Fish was rock hard, even the bones were rock hard. It was thrown on top of an entire onion and cloves of garlic. We were sitting over the water outside yet the fish was not fresh. The manager is a gangster, when we voiced our complaints and sent full plates of food back he did nothing to compensate and demanded we pay full. Avoid at all costs, do not waste your money here, worst meal I have ever had and I spent 10 years working in...
Read moreReally enjoyed our family dinner at this restaurant, the food and service were excellent. The tables and seating next to the Marina were comfortable and well laid out. The fish and meat skewers were well presented with plenty of cuts, but would rate the fish higher than the meat. The Cataplana (fish stew) for two people was amazing and great value.
They took one of our party's food allergies very seriously and were able to offer a good option for the main course that was equally tasty and filling.
The staff were attentive but not intrusive and the Manager took a personal interest in the dietary issues and making sure all were happy. No hesitation in giving...
