Welsh Snack Bar — Restaurant in Alcobaça

A very LOW class establishment. They have a reputation locally of disturbing the peace (even causing "a scene" by cursing locals even at 2 AM), insulting customers, hollering obscenities at passerbys. Even some of their British regular patrons lower themselves on their behalf to accost, in a public restaurant, others who will not patronize them any longer. And, of course, the owners make little attempt, by all appearances, to truly learn the language. This displays a certain disrespect for the Portugese people, in my opinion. Honestly the rudest and angriest woman I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. I popped in to take my 8 year old to the toilet as he was absolutely busting and got a torrent of verbal abuse from her and the locals as we walked out because we hadn't purchased anything, I completely understand that it's a business and they don't want people exploiting using their facilities but it was an unnecessary reaction. My wife then decided to go back and ask if we could get some takeaway drinks to then get another verbal attack for no reason. Maybe she was having a bad day but this was totally uncalled for. Having visited Welsh Bar in São Martinho many times for many reasons I can honestly say it is a welcoming, friendly and honest place. The beer and wine flows at good prices but the same goes for the food tea and coffee. If you are in São Martinho do Porto and looking for a pointer in the right direction or a place to feel comfortable Welsh Bar is it.
