The food was great but nothing else was. The servers were slow, inattentive, impatient, and slightly rude. They showed the least warmth and care that I’ve ever seen in a restaurant in Portugal, from not helping a man with limited mobility, to taking over 20 minutes before taking our order, to chatting between themselves when people were making eye contact and asking for help. It seemed like they didn’t think of anything themselves and had to be asked for napkins, utensils, and menus. They refused to give us paper menus when they were clearly available, and got annoyed if we asked them to repeat themselves even though we were all speaking Portuguese. Clean establishment, very friendly and professional staff.
I happen to completely spill my Galao and they were quick to make me a new one as well as make me feel less embarrassed. Must be that island Charm that helps!
We Happen too meet the owner, who is an extremely kind man and gave us lots of information on the beautiful island.
Would recommend. Everything is baked in house which gives it that extra something, something.
