We had a delicious meal here this evening. We started with a cheese plate featuring cheese from three of the islands of the Azores, served with honey with I'd never heard of before but was so good. I then had a veal chop and my partner had the most scrumptious fried cod. The veal was a little too rare for my liking (just a personal preference) but I tried the cod and it was amazing. (Even a Newfoundlander would have been impressed by it.) I finished the meal with a slice of made-in-restaurant Reese peanut butter and chocolate pie, and my partner had home made ice cream smothered in a warm, creamy chocolate sauce. While the meal was great, it was the customer service that was truly astonishing. We were warmly greeted, offered menu suggestions and carefully waited on throughout our meal. But then, an hour after we left, I looked at my phone and saw a message from the waiter! My partner had left his glasses behind on the table. The restaurant staff noticed that I'd checked in on Facebook, and they got ahold of me to let us know they had his glasses. Talk about going above and beyond! I encourage anyone visiting Terceira Island to visit this incredible little restaurant in downtown Angra do Heroismo. We will go back before our...
Read moreFor dinner we wanted to eat in the village where we stay. We actually always first check on google which restaurants there are. We both felt like a pizza and so the choice was quickly made to eat at "Fresh and Hot pizza" and it was nice that it was only a 2-minute walk from the hotel. We soon saw that it was actually a street food car and we didn't think that was such a good plan. Then just walk towards the center and see where we can find something delicious! That's how we walked in at Elio's. We were kindly greeted by the staff and allowed to sit where we wanted. Soon someone came with the menu and asked what we wanted to drink. The waiter himself came with the suggestion to take a jug instead of 2 glasses of wine because this would be cheaper if we wanted to order another glass. The choice for food quickly decided: pizza rica and a pasta bolognese. The food was delivered reasonably quickly and it was really tasty and certainly...
Read moreThis a very nice and conveniently located small restaurant that is easily accessible from the town center of Angra do Heroismo. The tables are arranged with enough space between them but also allow for interactions between the diners when a popular soccer game is playing on the TV. The service is excellent with attentive restaurant manager, serving staff that do not intrude but make sure that a diner’s requests are taken care of in a timely manner. The food selection caters to local as well as many other nationals who visit the historic town. Shell fish selection and fresh fin fish is highly recommend. Pizza for those who desire “international” fare is good too. The wines from Portuguese mainland and those produced locally provide a good, inexpensive selection either by the glass or the bottle. If you are not full after the meal, the desserts are delicious. Overall, a very...
