Waited 15 minutes for our very rude waiter to walk back and forth without once stopping to inquire with us, spending time chatting with colleagues. Listened as he made rude comments to his colleagues thinking I did not speak Portuguese. Finally had enough and called him over and told him we were leaving. Spoke in Portuguese where he seemed to immediately change his tune. As we left he continued to make rude remarks, so other could hear saying to others we had not waited that long.

Visiting with my daughter and certainly not the impression I want her to have of our amazing country.

In the small village of Batalha there is not much choice, and this restaurant seems to be one of the few which is worth it. Although it is not perfect. The staff does not speak English (at least our waiter didn't), but this is my fault not being able to speak Portuguese. In any case he didn't even try to understand us. The appetizers weren't too bad, not too expensive and quantity was good. The main dish was good too, maybe a little too much garlic and parsley, but enjoyable. Place has potential, but not a place that impresses, more of a place that satisfies without leaving an unforgettable experience. Food can look good in pictures, but taste counts.

Service is described by the name. The staff are not customer centric, need that if you want repeat customers.

Also, they close for 2 to 3 weeks at the start of July, the busiest part of the season... Very bad approach to doing business if you ask me 😳
