⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Unforgettable Dining Experience at O Gronho

From the moment we arrived at O Gronho, everything exceeded expectations. The food was absolutely outstanding – both the fish and the steak were incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. You can truly taste the quality in every bite.

The wine carta is exceptional – thoughtfully curated with a wide range of selections that beautifully complement the dishes. Every recommendation we received was spot-on.

The service was some of the best we’ve ever experienced – warm, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable. The staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of throughout the evening.

And then there’s the ocean view – absolutely spectacular. Watching the sun set over the water while enjoying such an incredible meal made the evening unforgettable.

O Gronho is a true gem. If you’re looking for a place where incredible food, outstanding service, and breathtaking scenery come together, this is it. We can’t wait...

The food is good, and sometimes kinds of steaks look spectacular but I didn’t taste it so I cannot rank the taste. I ate ceviche with tuna and french fries. Ceviche was good, tasty, fish was fresh, and looked ok. There was a lot of tuna in the dish, even a little too much ;) so, they don’t spare the fish ;) but, this ceviche is a little too heavy in my opinion (probably subjective). And, the French fries are homemade so a big plus. Big minus for the service - everybody is very nice, but ordering 3 main things I got 2 not ones I ordered: I picked shrimps ceviche and got tuna one with any explanation; and sumo de laranja instead of Sumol de laranja 😅 I know my portugese is not the best but the service didn’t speak English, and I’m here a few months and it was the only one they didn’t understand the most common beverage here in my performance🤦🏼‍♀️ But, in general, I recommend with...

Oh my gosh! Foz Do Arelho needed this restaurant! Seafood outstanding… We had the cuttlefish and the grilled Tuna served with generous amounts of the most delicious yummy minerals from the earth,, small little potatoes, large green beans, carrots, and the most mouthwatering cauliflower I have ever tasted.

Service was great, everyone tries to please, and I forgot to mention the espumante we ordered was Divai… our server took us down to the cellar to select which ever bottle we wanted.

Lastly, the desert, light, fluffy, melt in your mouth, Oreo cream mousse is the best description I can come up with.

Forgot to mention the bread… Special order from Obidos and also Rio Maior. Definitely order the side of bread that they bring you at the very beginning of your meal… Trust me, it’s worth it!

PS… Great...

On a whim we drove to the coast and ended up here by chance. The Google Maps reviews were great so we dropped in for a light lunch. The right choice! We got there as it opened so we got to witness the excellent service and warm welcomes - especially for families with kids and friends of the restaurant. From the starter plank, we had bread with olives and spreads. All excellent. For our light lunch we just had oysters followed by fried cuttlefish (choco frito) which were perfectly battered and fried - unfortunately not our usual experience in Portugal. All washed down with the excellent house white. From the dissert plank we shared the vanilla mousse which turned out to be an deconstructed Orieo cookie - amazing! Although it's an hour and a half from our home, we will definitely return often.

You arrive in Foz do Arelho by the second part of the night and that you are hungry and looking for something to eat, just enter the magnificent building, completely renewed, and just ask for Chef Hugo, coming back in his hometown after his journey all around European restaurant! Even if the service was finished and the cuisine closed, he had the very amazing attention to propose the most traditional sandwich Prego with the best meat than he can cook perfectly, and just add a carot soup and wonderful French Fries to it to complete the experience! This kindness of Chef Hugo and his whole team will stay as one of our best experience of Portugues food and hospitality. Thank you a million for your smile and we wish you the best of all for the come back and for the lifetime of O Gronho!
