Restaurante Zé da Tasca 2 — Restaurant in Castro Marim

Disappointed is an extreme understatement. I’m appalled with my experience here and will advise anyone to turn away and eat somewhere else. I read through reviews to determine if I will dine somewhere and more time I ignore the ones that completely slander the staff and food as I think it’s unnecessary but this one is a genuine review of my experience- see photos attached.

Keep in mind that my family are well established and experienced in hospitality… we sat down at the table to find only plates facing down and note from now that there’s no cutlery. The other reviews were right, majority of the staff didn’t speak Portuguese and they were extremely unorganised. We later found out that there was no management in house. Whilst going through the process of ordering food the waiters kept disappearing? He came back to take our order with a spill on his top and his hands dripping wet with something which was disgusting.

The waiter placed the Octopus in the middle of the table and left?! He failed to ask who ordered the dish, we really didn’t think the service could get any worse from here but we were wrong.

After all the dishes were left on the table, we were stuck watching the food getting cold. I ordered a sharing platter for two people but we couldn’t eat because they still hadn’t given us cutlery and right before our food came out another waiter randomly took our plates away. We went to get our own cutlery and dressing for the salad as this wasn’t placed on the table either. We started eating from the board and then rice came out 5 minutes after. Refer to the pictures as they speak for themselves but the rice was sitting in water and it was warm. None of the food was enjoyable to eat as it was sat there for 10 minutes. Bit disappointed. Service was really slow and the famous frango a guia from the Algarve was not the best. Usually, I love this chicken but it wasn't as tasty as I have before in other places. The service was really slow, food took ages, we know in Portugal the service is slower but it was a bit exaggerated as we waited over one hour. We ordered 5 full chicken and they only brought to the table 2 little platters half full with chips and the other half with rice (for 6 adults and 2 kids) and this is usually 1 platter per chicken!! We then asked for more chips... they never came... was taken more than 30min just for a platter with chips. The worst was that they were going to charge us for it as I saw the girl putting it through the till. We ended up cancelling the chips as in the meantime we finished eating the chicken and the chips were no longer required. This was a really bad experience. Everyone was having a platter with chips and rice per chicken and we got 2!!! Only 2 for 6 adults and 2 children! That's a joke and a rip-off since we were paying for it! I would not recommend this place as I feel it was really bad service...

Um bom restaurante faz-se pela simpatia do patrão, dos funcionários, pela humildade e respeito pelos clientes e neste restaurante não existem estes valores. Ontem estive neste restaurante com uns amigos e tivemos um péssimo atendimento, para começar pedimos um prato de sopa vazio para darmos a sopa que trazíamos a uma bebê e trouxeram passado bastante tempo 4 pratos com sopa lá dentro que foram para trás (falta de responsabilidade e orientação), quando trouxeram os pratos e os talheres deixaram em cima da mesa para nós colocarmos (fizemos o trabalho do funcionário, não nos custou colocar os pratos e os talheres mas era da competência do funcionário), pedimos água de 1Lt e disseram que não tinham e trouxeram águas pequenas e mais tarde passaram com uma garrafa de 1Lt, questionamos e percebemos que afinal havia mas uns empregados sabiam e outros não (falta de responsabilidade e orientação), a Cataplana para 4 pessoas vinha servida como se fosse para 2 pessoas, pedimos cerveja que demorou imenso tempo a chegar, pedimos mais uma travessa de batatas fritas que demorou mais de meia hora a chegar e quando chegou vinha uma mini cestinha com meia dúzia de batatas fritas que mandamos para trás e quando mandamos para trás a empregada foi mal educada, arrogante e antipática. Pedimos a conta que demoraram imenso tempo a trazer e quando chegou vinha com coisas a mais que não consumimos, pagamos e temos a fatura com contribuinte que comprova o pagamento. Fizemos reclamação junto do patrão porque fomos ter com o mesmo, pois pedimos para falar e quem vinha à mesa dar a cara era um funcionário e só quando nos levantamos e fomos à procura do patrão é que o mesmo deu a cara e pediu desculpa pelo péssimo serviço (mais clientes estavam a reclamar) e como o patrão pediu desculpa não fizemos reclamação no livro de reclamações, mas depois de ler o comentário que fez quando o meu esposo disse que foi um péssimo serviço, merecia a reclamação no livro. Nós pagamos e fomos muito mal servidos. Se quer continuar com o restaurante aberto seja humilde, tenha respeito pelos clientes, oriente os seus funcionários, as críticas são sempre construtivas e ajudam a melhorar mas para isso tem de querer melhorar e saber ouvir é uma virtude.
