A Chaminé — Restaurant in Castro Marim

I wonder how this restaurant can be full of people every day, and almost all tables have a reservation, because the service is condescending. In an empty restaurant being the first guests of the evening, we were placed in front of the toilets. After requesting to change, the struggling waiter suddenly had a good seat at a window. We declined the not free bread, after the obviously unhappy waiter returned, he were asking pretty rude if we want anything at all. We ordered beer and ice tea. Later we took the lamb and noodles with fish and seafood. The 2nd star was only given because the taste was pretty decent. But the presentation was super uninspired. Noodles came in a dirty pot, and a plate to be served yourself, while the lamb sat on a plate without any nice garnish, just fries and rice. Looks this restaurant has a two class service, people ordering the same dish have a salad on the same plate. The restaurant now filled up, and the waiter definitely forgot us. Chegados ao restaurante (sem reserva) começou por acontecer algo que nos desagrada profundamente: ser ignorados. Um dos funcionários do staff vendo-nos especados (já tínhamos passado da soleira da porta) a olhar esperançosamente para ser recebidos, conseguiu não nos dirigir a palavra (incluindo um boa noite). Atitude essa que voltou a repetir quando regressou de uma das mesas que se encontrava a montar. Ao fim de alguns minutos, finalmente, fomos abordados por alguém que, finalmente, nos cumprimentou e nos questionou se já tínhamos sido atendidos (tendo em conta que nos encontrávamos de pé, no meio do restaurante, pareceu-nos óbvio que não). Foi o primeiro ponto negativo da noite. Mais negativo nos pareceu quando o restaurante não estava cheio.

O serviço não melhorou substancialmente. Fomos encaminhados para uma mesa que não se encontrava montada e que demorou a sê-lo. Depois demorou a recolher o pedido. De seguida, demoraram a chegar as bebidas. Tudo isto num restaurante que, uma vez mais, não se encontrava cheio.

A determinada altura, começou a chegar a comida à mesa. As entradas (camarões à guillo) foram uma desilusão.

Os pratos principais (lulas grelhadas) estavam razoavelmente boas. Duas notas negativas aqui: um dos pratos claramente mais recheado que o outro; tínhamos pedido para trocarem as batatas num dos pratos (o que foi confirmado) e não as trocaram.

O preço também não acompanha o serviço. Uma média de 32 € por pessoa, numa refeição que teve entradas, mas não teve vinho (teve 4 imperiais). Uma dose de pão cobrada a mais (novo ponto negativo).

Resultado: Nota negativa. Necessidade evidente de melhorar a organização do staff e do restaurante e de maior cautela na gestão dos clientes. Valor da refeição elevado para a qualidade da comida que...

This restaurant is just a few minutes from our Airbnb and was highly recommended.

Half of our dinner party did not enjoy seafood whereas the other half did tremendously. Therefore, 2 people at our table ordered meat dishes and the other two ordered seafood dishes.

The grilled chicken with lemon was good as was the lasagna.

Our apple and shrimp salad was too notch both in terms of taste, texture and presentation. The monkfish rice was good though the fish was a little on the dry side. The shrimp omelette was excellent.

What a nice find in this beautiful little town...
