So very impressed with this venue. Got there by accident but I am so very pleased to experience the excellence of both service and food here. The setting is lovely and the staff are obliging and super efficient and provide service par excellence. The food is fabulous. We had a number of tasting plates, fries, mushrooms, pork, garlic prawns, octopus, fried goats cheese. We had 2 fantastic bottles of wine chosen from a big list of great wines. The staff were very obliging about a couple of health requirements we have as a group, with no sense of irritation. This restaurant is just excellent, excellent , excellent. at every level. We had no idea what we were doing, having arrived in Coimbra just hours before coming to this restaurant, having had very little to eat all day. We were overwhelmed by the wine list, especially not speaking Portuguese, so we described to our waiter in very broad terms what we like and don't like, then left it up to him. He made a fabulous selection, making it clear that if we didn't like it he would get a different choice. We drank that bottle and another. We also very much enjoyed the catalpana. This place is amazing. My wife and I came to eat on our first night in Coimbra. We were treated to amazing food - everything we ordered was superb. The octopus was the best I've ever eaten, the pasteis de queijo were delicious as well. The wine list is extensive, and reasonably priced. Paulo made us feel very welcome, and was extremely knowledgeable. They also have a english menu, if you need one. Well worth the trip - get there early for dinner though, or make a reservation. There was a line at the door...
