Tu Taqueria Wey — Restaurant in Coimbra

We had a fantastic experience at Tu Taqueria Wey! We tried many things on the menu and were impressed with the freshness, wonderful balance of flavours in each dish. We started off with the guacamole, shrimp tempura with mango chutney and chilli. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious! The guacamole was among the freshest I have tried, and the shrimp had a wonderful balance of spiciness and sweetness , thanks to the mango chutney it came with. Reviewing this as someone who lived in Mexico for 4 years. Great addition to Coimbra’s food scene! While the quesadillas and tacos don’t taste 100% like in Mexico (because you can’t get the same ingredients), they come close enough to be comforting. One complaint is that the price is high for the portion size and amount of filling though - I would pay the same price in the UK. I would recommend skipping the quesadillas because they were frankly underwhelming, and get the Cochinita Pibil tacos instead. Food was great in taste, but ridiculously small portions. If I'm coming to a new place that I dont know nothing about and I'm hungry, I don't want to have to think if 9.5 euros tacos is only half a portion or a quarter of a portion of dinner. If you think Im not ordering enough food for dinner, then warn me. I have been to other mexican dinners, with great food and much better portions and prices.
