Os Manos — Restaurant in Faro

I went to this restaurant on 15-08-2020 and I can't say the experience was good in fact it was below average. The food was normal and nothing extraordinary about sardines. I asked if I could swap the boiled potatoes for French fries and they said I would have to pay separately 2.5 euros for it. Basically, I had to buy an extra portion of French fries. What I wasn't expecting the sardines to come without the boiled potatoes. So, I had to pay for the boiled potatoes they didn't bring to the table. Asked for a tomato salad and I was served a sliced small to medium tomato ... my definition of tomato salad was certainly different. I left with a bad feeling that this restaurant overcharge at the slightest opportunity. I’m glad I didn’t go with a group of friends. I can’t even imagine the how much we could be overcharged.

Fresh seafood and fish grilled in front of your eyes. This is a simple no frills restaurant that serves a wide variety of fresh fish. The price/ quality is outstanding. Pick your fish from the display as you walk in. Start off with some local clams (ameijoas) from the nearby lagoon, Ria Formosa. Mop up the sauce with the crusty bread. The side dishes are simple, good chips or boiled potatos, salad. I ask for the 'montanheira' salad and chips, although Portuguese usually have boiled potatos with grilled fish. There is crisp 'green' wine (vinho verde) by the carafe. Order a small one because it should be chilled and you can always ask for another! The glasses come frosted and cold. This is the worst place that I have ever been for lunch. There is no waitress service, I needed to called him like 100 times to be payed attention for ordering. They forgot the drinks and brought the food before. And the worst thing, if you are tourist (non-portuguese) do not go there, I was totally cheated and tricked when they wrote in a piece of paper the bill (they do not have receipts!) and I was charged 71€ for 4 small fishes (they refused to show me the menu card!)
