Rei da Picanha — Restaurant in Figueira da Foz

I have heard & seen many mixed reviews regarding this restaurant so I will endeavour to offer a balanced review. Please bear in mind that I am a partially disabled, mum & have accumulated years in the catering & hospitality business. Food: for a restaurant of this size they offer a varied menu of meats, fish and light meals. I am very fussy when it comes to steaks (as is my family) 1st visit I have to say it was the best steak that I have had in Portugal to date so much so that I have ordered it 3 times (veal steak) my family love Picanha and have always fought over the last one! Fish: I have ordered here at times has been very well seasoned also. Salad: very basic healthy Portuguese style simply dressed. Pudding: (I love my puddings) pleasant, fair size, fresh fruit available. Service: 1st visit very impressed with our server, polite, spoke English very well (he didn't need to) efficient and we felt nothing was too much trouble. Facilities: toilets are in desperate need of upgrades husband agreed. Access to toilet in a wheelchair would be extremely difficult of not impossible. Cleanliness of the restaurant are considering aging decor and furniture I would give 4 out of 5 but toilets 2. SUMMARY: if you want a smaller restaurant with a fairly decent all round choice that is português more than Brazilian with attentive service in a very laid back (no dress code) restaurant for a meal for no more than a couple of hours this is the place to go. Busy times you may have to wait for a table but the surrounding area is lovely (road upgrades at the moment 🧐) they do not offer on the menu a childrens portion but are happy to offer extra plates. They do not have changing facilities for babies or high chairs so for children I would say school age applies. Hope this helps. Figueira da Foz & Buarcos are beautiful so please visit...

Devo dizer que suspeito de imediato de um restaurante que tem meia duzia de pessoas quando se vê os restaurantes vizinhos completamente cheios, no entanto como a fome apertava decidimos arriscar no Rei da Picanha, os pratos têm muito bom aspecto e com boa quantidade mas devo dizer que foi a primeira vez até hoje que vi uma LESMA de antenas no ar a passear na minha alface, ao fazer o reparo o empregado prontamente se disponibilizou a trocar o prato e escolhi outro diferente, para despachar o cozinheiro deixou os bifes queimar um pouco mas tudo bem, estava aceitavel. No fim em vez de um pequeno "mimo" na conta, ainda somos confrontados com uma cerveja extra que nao foi consumida. 37€ por 2 pratos, 4 cervejas, 2 cafés, entradas e uma lesma viva parece-me excessivo para a qualidade apresentada. Locale molto semplice, consigliato per una cena poco impegnativa, da turisti di passaggio; però non ci ha convinto fino in fondo, ci aspettavamo qualcosa di meglio... Il cibo è buono ed abbondante e la qualità dei piatti nella media, così come il servizio e il rapporto qualità/prezzo. Però abbiamo trovato la preparazione e la presentazione dei piatti molto banale, non originale, cioè da un locale che si definisce "re della picanha" mi sarei aspettato qualcosa di più tipico e ricercato; il servizio è stato molto rapido e poco disponibile, perché il locale era molto affollato... Inoltre per il piccolo bagno c'era da fare la fila e infine, al momento del conto, non hanno accettato carte o bancomat ma solo cash (cosa inaccettabile!). Mi spiace, ma non posso dare più...
