Malibu Foz Hotel — Hotel in Figueira da Foz

Being fair I rate this as a 4 star hotel. It uses 5 Star suggestions in its marketing and well crafted photography, but this is a refurbed building from the 60s/70s . It's already showing wear and tear with the pool area having broken tiles,the grating around the pool very dirty and many of the pool water features broken / not running.|It's also not a resort.. it's a hotel with a pool 10 min walk from the beach.|The breakfast in reality is a basic buffet in a very sterile breakfast hall. 3 star breakfast. It's edible, but done have your hopes up. The breakfast photography on the social media pages is from a brunch I suspect they operate on the weekends at the restaurant by the pool.|The pool side Italian restaurant is the best element the hotel has going for it. It's prob new build. It does decent pizza , pasta etc.|Bar service is unbelievably slow.|The hotel bar, is very basic, not a massive beverage selection, basic beers and basic spirits, a number of evenings we returned from dinner, there was no service there, you needed to go to the front desk to order a drink, but why would you any way as it was empty and soul less.|The checkin could have been better. It took 15 min, and the telephone rang non stop thru the interaction. Very unsettling, and pity the person who was trying to reach the front desk as the receptionist kept hitting a button to reject the call.|No one gave a n explanation of the facilities, we completely missed the cinema!! Would have been nice to know about, and on our final night returning from a walk, noticed a gym at the top of the building, again a missed opportunity to have it highlighted.|Overall I'm being generous with a 4 star rating, .could be a very smart 4 star hotel and has huge potential, but management and staff miss so many opportunities with...

First of all, five stars to Daniella and the rest of staff. If it wasn't for her we would have left on day two. They have an impossible mission and work incredibly hard.

This is a missed opportunity, first the good:

Friendly and helpful staff. They try hard, which is greatly appreciated. Maintenance fixed the issues with the room. Clean Pool area Breakfast Cigar lounge is perfect (albeit a bit small)

The bad:

Our room stank of cigarettes, they just tried to disguise it and made it a lot worse. Maintenance, shower not working properly, lock to the room was faulty, the shower leaked, missing pictures around, missing items on room. Ventilation in cigar lounge stopped working properly on day three. Open sky window wouldn't open on the cigar lounge. Self-advertised as a 5 star hotel, it's not, 4 stars.

The ugly: Price is way higher than it should be. Suites are tiny for the price. No active ventilation on bathrooms. Most staff are clearly not trained and have little or no experience. Not enough staff, so everything is way too slow. Check the cigars, found a few with mold. A real shame since the collection is spectacular. Total lack of management, management are invisible.

Overall, it's a pity, with some solid management and direction this could be an incredible place. As it stands it's just a...

Estuvimos del 31 al 4 de septiembre. EL HOTEL La apariencia del hotel es excelente, todo el parking es gratuito y al aire libre, uno en la parte delantera del hotel, junto a la entrada a la recepción y otro en la parte trasera que se puede acceder por una puerta con seguridad directamente a la zona de habitaciones, lo que facilita la manera de descargar el equipaje. El habiente era muy tranquilo, sin aglomeraciones, con una temperatura excelente en las zonas comunes y una limpieza excelente. Hay varios espacios con sofás para descansar o estar tranquilamente vigilando a los pequeños mientras juegan en la Habitación de juegos. Tiene una habitación de juegos con las suficientes cosas para que estén entretenidos durante un buen rato, no es muy grande pero cuando estuvimos mis dos hijos estaban solos. Quizá pueda haber 4 o 5 niños jugando al mismo tiempo sin problemas. También hay una habitación de cine con butacas/sofá dobles (cabe un adulto y un niño, con un proyector. El comedor tiene un espacio diáfano muy agradable y anexo hay una terraza con césped artificial. La distancia del hotel con la playa está bien, íbamos con 2 niños de 3 y 5 años. Casi hay más distancia del paseo marítimo a la orilla :) PISCINA: Está muy bien, con una profundidad de unos pocos centímetros al principio (ideal para bebes o pequeños) que va en aumento hasta 1,85. Tiene anexo un jacuzzi (no climatizado) y tumbonas con sombrillas y mesitas por todo el perímetro. Anexo hay una zona de césped con varios sofás y una red de volley. Tiene un restaurante con snack bar donde los precios nos parecieron algo excesivos y no consumimos. En la espalda de este hay servicios para hombre y mujeres con una ducha. COMIDA: Cogimos alojamiento y desayuno por lo que solo probamos eso pero tanto la variedad y sobre todo la calidad de los productos nos encantó. Hay tostado y máquina para hacer Gofres/Waffles , Salado (huevos revueltos, bacon, salchichas, ...), fruta cortada, yogures, cereales, todo tipo de bollería, tortitas, creps, ... y la máquina de cafés es una Nesspreso con variedad de cápsulas y sobre todo con muchas manera de café (capuccino, capuccino frío, con espuma, ....) una delicia. HABITACIONES Nuestra habitación era una de las primera de la segunda planta y era perfecta. Tiene un pequeño salón a la entrada con sofá cama y TV, nevera con mini bar (con coste) y una máquina Nesspreso con varias capsulas (gratis) y un calentador de agua. Entre este salón y la habitación está el baño, con bidé y ducha (con 2 modos de ducha). Los amenities están muy bien: maquina de afeitar con crema, cepillo de dientes y pasta, esponja para zapatos, set de desmaquillar, etc... El gel, champú y crema hidratante están presentados en botes de plástico con dispensador, muy cómodos y bonitos.El baño tiene una luz led en el espejo, ideal para ir al wc por la noche sin molestar y otra luz más potente. La habitación tiene una puerta (con llave que separa los dos ambientes y da intimidad). En nuestro caso era una camba de 2 metros por 2 metros con un colchón pikolín modelo Quebec super cómodo. Tienes 2 almohadas para elegir, un reloj despertador con bluetooth (jbl horizon con 2 usb para carga de móviles, baterías, etc), mesillas con luz de lectura regulable (tipo flexo). La TV tienen infinidad de canales y es de unas 40 pulgadas. Hay dos sillas, otra lámpara de pie, un escritorio con dos cajones y una terraza con mesa y silla que da a la piscina. El armario es amplio, con luz interior, caja fuerte y un secador de pelo grande con 3 velocidades y 3 temperaturas que puedes enchufar en cualquier sitio. PERSONAL DEL HOTEL El trato de todo el personal de hotel es inmejorable, hicieron en todo momento que nos sintiésemos como en casa, poniendo facilidades para todo, recomendando donde ir a comer o que ver en Figueira y alrededores.

Este es el resumen de nuestra experiencia, parece que el hotel estaba recién estrenado y eso puede influir pero ha sido inmejorable.

Como comentario pediría que pusieran papeleras tanto dentro del hotel como en la zona de piscina porque no...
