My boyfriend and I wanted to find somewhere local to eat, a short walk from our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received from the restaurant owner at Boa Vista and had a lovely dining experience there! We took the Fish of the Day (Scabbard fish) and the Dourada fish from the menu, as well as a side of rice and salad. The ingredients were very fresh and the flavours amazing! The lemon garlic sauce with the Dourada fish was sensational and perfectly topped off the dish! The house red wine we had was also wonderful and we were gifted a shot of Poncha, the local liqueur of the island with a lovely explanation of how it was made and the history behind it. Overall we really enjoyed our experience there, really great food and lovely conversations with the owner, learning more about the history and culture of the island, as well as local events. We were also impressed by his fluent English. We appreciated his attentiveness and the time he took to bless us with a lovely evening! He also offered to take some lovely photos of us so we didn't struggle yet again with the selfies! Haha. Some lovely local items to look at and enjoy as well in the restaurant. Good music too. When we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with a welcoming smile. We sat down and ordered food (For all the people who are consensus about order and trouble opon a language barrier - no worries!! The waiter (and husband) was fluent in English) When we got the food it was AMAZING. Hat off for the very talented chef! We tried different Madeiran drinks and got to try a very interesting liquor. We got so much fact and highly appreciated advice on what to do when we’re here. We will definitely come back before we head home again! The chef (and wife) even got us some madieran fruit to try.
Biggest thanks. And to all you guys reading this, don’t miss...

The skewers is perfectly medium cooked, full of juice, well seasoned with the smell of grilling charcoals. The sea bass is so fresh that you can smell the sea when it’s on the table. And this is no figurative speaking. The atmosphere is wonderful, local and home feeling. The staff is super friendly. He joked around, offered liquors and gave up many tips for our trips. Really made me felt welcome. And they have that beautiful bird, very adorable, interactive with you. All in all, great experience. Definitely...
