Restaurante José do Rego — Restaurant in Lagoa

One of the most advertised places in Lagoa in the Azores, many signs around the city. A huge selection of food for any consumer, a huge number of places, but in fact: Dishes from the chef worth 16 euros are not worthy of either the attention of guests or the pricing policy. If it weren't for the beauty of the island, we would have been poring over a book of complaints in a day. In place of the ordered cod, they brought us an Octopus, which was unchewable, inedible and not fresh. Thanks to the chef for replacing the dish with another octopus, which we still waited for 15 minutes, despite the fact that we were the only visitors in the establishment, and which we at least were able to chew. It was the most tasteless octopus in my life. When we asked the waiter to bring us a dessert at the expense of the establishment to make up for the situation, we were refused, which fully confirmed our disrespect for the guests. When we left, they didn't even say goodbye to us. The only thing we were satisfied with was bread, olives and soup. Definitely, the institution is not worthy of more than 3 stars and the attention...

I've been to different Restaurants in the five days I stayed in São Miguel and this Restaurant was so far the best one I found! I went everyday to the Restaurant and I could make it again. First of all because the staff is really friendly and always smiling, especially Ana Rita. A big thank you to Ana Rita to be so friendly and to show that she really like what she's doing. Second: Do you know the feeling when you are full and you can't eat nothing more but the food it's so fresh and tasty and you just can't stop to eat? So that happened to me, normally I can't eat everything when the portion is too big but here I could eat everything and the reason it's because of the food. HORRÍVEL. Fui jantar, tinha feito reserva. Enquanto estava a aguardar que me atendessem, os empregados estavam a discutir sobre uma mesa ter sido fechada quando não era suposto terem fechado. De primeira, já deu um mau ambiente e uma má impressão. Sentei-me na mesa, onde já tinha o couvert (pão, manteiga e queijos) pois a minha mesa tinha sido reservada. Meia hora depois, tive que chamar para que me trouxessem o menu. Foi me tirado o pedido, no qual pedi para entrada, lapas e moelas. As moelas vieram, as lapas nada. Passou mais de meia hora, trouxeram os pratos principais. Disse que não tinham vindo as lapas, nesse mesmo momento o empregado derramou (creio que sem querer) o meu prato que neste caso era polvo assado por cima de mim. Simplesmente começou a discutir com o colega a colocar as culpas nele (ainda levaram um bocado nessa disputa) só depois foi me pedido desculpa, não me trouxeram um único, pano, guardanapo, nada. EU é que tive que pedir! Deram-me um pano seco, ao invés de me darem um pano molhado para poder retirar o maior de molho que eu tinha na minha roupa/pernas. (Isto para não falar que estava extremamente quente pois tinha sido servido num prato de barro) , foi-me oferecido um jarro que nem 1L tinha de sangria. O empregado ainda ia me colocar a comida que derramou em cima da mesa para eu comer, depois apercebeu-se e levou o polvo para trás e na mesma hora veio para a mesa (é claro que era exatamente o mesmo polvo) , comi o polvo estava EXTREMAMENTE salgado! Só comi um tentáculo e uma batata. Já para não falar que o bife de lombo que a outra pessoa que estava comigo pediu, não havia molho, o alho não tinha sabor, e o bife parecia que tinha sido mastigado e ido diretamente para o prato. Horrível. Ofereceram-se para me fazer outra comida, mas a experiência foi tão péssima que eu só quis pagar e ir-me embora. Não houve nenhuma atenção, nem 20% de desconto, nada. Ainda cobraram os pratos todos sendo que mais de metade veio para trás. 65€ para um serviço horrível, qualidade péssima assim como os preços. Nunca vi um bife de lombo ser mais caro do que um bife de vazia e vir da maneira que veio para a mesa....
