went here two days in a row, once on Easter Sunday when the place was booked out and we barely got a seat, the other day on Easter Monday, so one day later.
The food was really really really really good, we had fish, ox tail, clams, lamb, and ALOT of desert over the 2 days. Everything was good. Lots of flavor lots of garlic lots of friendly service and for the portions and the quality the price is just right. The menue changes more or less daily, on Sunday there were about 6 option on the menu, on Monday, i uploaded the picture, you can see there.. The server and I assume the owner speak english, the cook not soo much, but that wasent important.
Very impressed with everything that we ate and will probably go back before we leave again. Cant complain about anything here, simply delicious!!!!! Its not a touristy place at all and you definately need a car to get to the place, they have outside covered seating and inside seating where the TV is on, all the time. You can see the fish in the fishothek as well as the deserts.. bread olives and carrots are delicious which are served before you eat (and you have to pay for them not like in other restaurants we ate at in portugal so far)
Go eat her at least once for a very authentic...
Read moreWhat is advertised as "Portuguese" food is a category for tourists. Real Portuguese food is not like Indian, Thai, Chinese, not as Americans characterize these. Portuguese food is basic, simple, which is to say, potatoes, veggies, fish or beef, with some regional variations. That is what makes it soooo, soo good. Basic food, regionally harvested, cooked by locals, food for everyone. Good food doesn't need to look like a Rembrandt, it doesn't have to have fifteen separate spices brought in from wherever ... when so much window dressing is required, it often means that attention is being taken away from the food itself. This is a great place to eat, where the locals go for food, reasonably priced, and plenty to satisfy even the most...
Read moreWow! What a gem! Easily the best seafood we've had in Lagos. I had the dourada, my husband had the espada. Both were incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. We also started with bread & (delicious) olives, and had a bottle of vinho verde, and finished with espresso and dessert. We were stuffed, and all for a very reasonable price.
The owner is super friendly, and speaks English more than well enough to make up for our lack of Portuguese. The restaurant is tucked away a bit, but not impossible to find. It was an easy walk on a nice day from the town center, but driving would also be easy (plenty of parking).
Can't wait to get back here and try more...
