Restaurante Marés Vivas — Restaurant in Leiria

Our ‘usual’ place was closed, so we chose this restaurant for lunch for a change and because of its beachside location. There were three of us. We started with olives, bread and cheese. So far so good, although we thought 4 euros to be exorbitant for a tiny cheese. We wanted two soups. Not available. We wanted the 100g prawn starter, but we’re told that we could only have a minimum of 500g, despite being told that the skewer of lulas e camarão was available. The salmão e camarão skewer which we had chosen wasn’t available. We did end up ordering 500g of fried shrimp, but we left some as they were overcooked and almost impossible to peel. My husband had a salad and chips. Including 2 soft drinks, a large water, 4 white wines and an espresso the bill was 63 euros. I felt a bit sorry for the nice waitress, who asked us if...

Wir waren die vergangenen Jahre immer wieder mal im Marés Vivas und vom Essen immer begeistert. Frischer Fisch, lecker Muscheln. Die Aussicht und direkter Zugang zum Strand sind natürlich ein Plus.

Leider hat es den Anschein, dass der Service extrem nachgelassen hat. Wir saßen, nachdem uns ein Tisch zugewiesen wurde und der Schirm aufgespannt wurde, fast 30 Minuten am Tisch, ohne bedient, bzw beachtet zu werden. Dazu muss gesagt werden, es war Mittagszeit, aber es war wirklich nicht viel los. Das Personal war zu zweit draussen, hat aber nur 1-2 Tische bedienen können. Uns war nicht wirklich ersichtlich warum. Schade. Wir hatten auf gewohnt lecker Essen gehofft, sind aber dann nach 30 Minuten wieder gegangen. Ironischerweise wurde unser Tisch, kurz nachdem wir gegangen sind, vom Service abgedeckt. (Es waren Teller/Gläser eingedeckt)

Auch muss gesagt werden, dass die Preise nochmal angezogen haben, nun ähnlich/gleich der Konkurrenz, ein paar Meter weiter am Strand.

Dafür gibt's etwas weiter hinten in den Seitenstraßen auch tolle Restaurants, typisch portugiesisch, dennoch günstiger, weil nicht 1....

Visited for lunch when driving through the area, a real gem of a find, the staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The views are amazing, right on the beach & the food was delicious. We only wanted a light lunch so ordered 2 dishes between 4 of us, this was not a problem. We will definitely visit this area again so that we can visit...
