Monsantos Open Air — Restaurant in Lisbon

This was by far the worst restaurant experience in my life, exacerbated, at every turn, by the staff's inability to do the right thing. As a vegetarian, my choices were few so I ordered the alho francês à brás. The waiter placed the entrecôt in front of me and, upon informing him that my friend sitting next to me had ordered that and not me, he looked at me incredulously, as if I had somehow insulted him. Then I was presented with a plate of bacalhau a brás. This was then passed on to someone who had actually ordered this. Finally, I was presented with my plate of "alho francês à brás". We asked, just to confirm, if it was indeed alho de francês à brás and were told that, yes, it was. Three bites in and I was digging out a cod bone from my teeth. It was bacalhau à brás. The problem could have ended here. However, minutes later, one of the members of the wait-staff came over and insisted that we had made the mistake and that a friend of mine was actually eating the alho francês à brás, even though she knew quite well that she was eating bacalhau à brás. He insisted that she did not know what she was eating and that we had confused the orders.

The service we received was combative, unprofessional, short-sighted and rude. Had I been allergic to seafood, the whole situation would have panned out much more negatively for the establishment and they seemed to have completely missed the point that they served a meat dish (yes, fish is meat) to a vegetarian who ordered a vegetatian meal. This is unacceptable in Europe and not something that should be tolerated in Lisbon, a capital city. Does management not understand that, had I been allergic, they would have had ambulances at their establishment? Based on their handling of this situation, I highly doubt that they have the cognitive ability to grasp what the implications could be of this misstep.

I will never return here and I will actively inform friends and acquaintances of the dreadful experience that we had at this restaurant.

A piece of advice: all it would have taken would have been for the establishment to have recognized its mistake, apologized (instead of trying to blame us) and provided the entire table with a small discount...had you done that I would have never been driven to write this bad review and I would probably have wanted to return. Ao fim de 2 anos descobri por acaso que eliminaram a minha crítica que fiz aqui na Google. Muito giro. Deixo aqui a crítica que fiz à 2 anos: Quero começar por dizer que esta foi a primeira vez que qualquer um de nós veio ao Monsantos. Um grupo de amigos e eu encontrámos uma publicidade no Instagram que levava a um evento na 3cket no jardim do Monsantos Open Air chamado "Celebrate 90s & 00s", acontece que adquirimos os bilhetes para o "Club" que foram 0€, no entanto ao chegarmos ao Monsantos o segurança deu-nos um cartão onde tinhamos consumo obrigatório de 10€, o que quer dizer que os 0€ eram só fachada. Apesar disso, entrámos e decidimos procurar como descer para o jardim pois, esses 10€ por pessoa não seriam o problema. Todos pensámos que o "Club" fosse no jardim, visto que tanto na publicidade do Instagram, no website do 3cket ou do Monsantos não especificam que o "Club" é uma discoteca ou um espaço interior separado do jardim e a única imagem indicativa do "Club" que têm no website contém árvores e é impossível perceber por essa única imagem que se trata de um local fechado, nada a ver com as centenas de imagens na Internet pelo qual o Monsantos Open Air é conhecido ou a imagem que nos chamou em primeiro lugar para o evento. Totalmente este evento não começou como esperávamos, no entanto viémos para "celebrar" os anos 90/00 por isso pelo menos isso tinhamos garantido... só que não. Passaram êxitos dos anos 90 como "Acorda Pedrinho" do lendário Jovem Dionísio, "Dançarina" dos grandes Pedro Sampaio com o MC Pedrinho e quem poderia esquecer o "Amor de Chocolate" da estrela Naldo Benny, entre muitas outras grandes pérolas. Sim, estas músicas que acabei de ditar são alguns exemplos de músicas que passaram neste evento. São todas músicas de 2010 para a frente, incluindo músicas lançadas este ano. Ao descobrirmos que este evento foi um engano total, visto que o valor, tema e local não correspondem à realidade publicitada, decidimos ir-nos embora e o segurança não nos deixou sair pois não tinhamos consumido o valor minimo do cartão apesar de insistirmos continuamente que este evento não fora o prometido. Depois disto, já frustrados tentámos encontrar então realmente algo para gastar estes 10€ e irmos embora. Não têm comida nenhuma, e bebidas como "Gin" só tinham dois tipos, que pedimos e que mal se podiam chamar Gins. Um Gin Tanqueray aqui custou 10€! Como são capazes de cobrar 10€ por um Gin Tanqueray quando uma garrafa de 70cl desse Gin custa 17€ em qualquer supermercado? Pedimos dois cafés no restaurante a um empregado que nos olhou de cima a baixo e cobraram-nos três cafés em vez dos dois, portanto +1.50€. Quando fomos ao Club as barmaids eram arrogantes e paravam o serviço a meio para dançarem as duas enquanto esperávamos pelas bebidas. Inclusive eu pedi para uma delas me verificar qual dos nossos cartões faltava cobrir os 10€ e depois de verificar registou no cartão errado, o que nos levou a pagar +8.50€ a mais num dos cartões porque ainda "não tinhamos chegado aos 10€ do consumo obrigatório". Um dos Gins, um Gordon Pink foi cobrado como um Gin Tanqueray, ou seja +4€ que o Gordon Pink que pedimos. Quando chegou à altura de ir embora, verificámos que nos cobraram então os 14€ a mais, que mencionei anteriormente, mas como por um milagre, as senhoras responsáveis pelo pagamento eram mais simpáticas e honestas do que qualquer outro colaborador do Monsantos e devolveram-nos esse dinheiro. Para concluir, como é possível em uma noite tanta coisa correr assim tão mal? Decidi fazer esta crítica porque reparámos que vai haver um evento exatamente igual dia 9, 16 e 23 de julho e não queremos ver ninguém passar pela experiência horrível e ridícula que passámos neste local. Não se enganem, o espaço é bonito mas a fundação não vale 1 tostão....

Save time and money, go somewhere else.

Bought tickets to open air concert here. First it took 30 minutes to find the place. Address on the site leads you to absolutely different place. On the web they say “next to hotel and decathlon”. It’s around 1km from both. Which direction? You can find out yourself. No signs, no instructions.

Then we found out their parking is full and we need to park 10 minutes walk from the place.

Next they forbid me to enter with my reusable bottle of water. Even if it’s gonna be empty. So 10 minutes walk back to cat and back here or basically throw away the bottle.

They I got searched twice. No idea why.

Finally the consent itself is terrible. Sound is okay, light-work is awful. Guy who is supposed to be Ed Sheeran tribute has nothing in common in voice/energy.

The place looks really cheap. With green carpet instead of grass, cheapest furniture and awful food for good restaurant prices. I took bifana which wasn’t cooked properly and tested disgusting, not less.

Main thing - there’s no soul here, people who own it just care about your money and don’t wanna provide anything for it. They don’t deserve a single cent.
