Our two evenings at Mary's Tapas in Quarteira were an absolute delight, and I can't say enough positive things about this charming establishment.
From the moment we walked in, we were met with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. Mary's Tapas is a simple yet genuinely inviting place, creating an atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home.
Now, let's talk about the food. Mary's specialities, including Cachupa, Pica Pau, and Moela, were nothing short of outstanding. Each dish was bursting with flavor and made with care. It's clear that the heart and soul of Portuguese/Cape Verdean/Angolan cuisine are poured into every plate served here.
What sets Mary's Tapas apart is not just the delicious food but also the unbeatable prices. It's rare to find such quality at such reasonable rates in the area, making it a hidden gem for budget-conscious travelers.
But what truly made our experience exceptional was the presence of Marina (Mary) herself. She is an absolute delight, radiating hospitality and ensuring that every guest feels special.
One unique aspect that struck us was the diverse clientele. Unlike many restaurants in tourist areas, here, you'll find locals and Portuguese-speaking guests, a testament to the authenticity of the experience.
In summary, Mary's Tapas is a must-visit for anyone in Quarteira seeking a genuine culinary experience. With friendly staff, hearty food, and unbeatable prices, it's a true gem in the area. Our two nights there will be cherished memories of our time...
Read moreWe were so pleased to have found this place. The place is a family owned restaurant where Marina and Lucio bring their art of cooking and hospitality to display. We asked recommendation for some special dishes. Every single suggestion was superb! The casserole was perfect. The Portuguese kebab was amazing too! But I have to say my favourite was the fried fish with the banana on the top! The surprise of the night was the red Portuguese wine which was a direct recommendation. I could not believe that it was a great pair with everything we ordered! Fish, meat, banana…! Also the digestive was a wonderful recommendation. We hope to visit this magical place again. A true hidden gem!...
Read moreAn absolute gem of a place, it's slightly off the beaten track, but well worth seeking out. The staff a very hospitable and the food is delicious. We had the bread, olives and cheese to start then 2 tapas each. My squid and fried prawn dishes were excellent. Fresh and full of flavour. My partner had the pork and the chicken wings. She normally doesn't finish such big portions but today she managed it. We had a half bottle of red wine which was just perfect. The other diners were friendly and we got lots of tips for things to do and places to eat in the area. If you like to find places were locals and like-minded people eat then...
