It is such a pity that the owner/manager acted like a "vulture" and completely spoilt a potential enjoyable lunch break. We stopped today for lunch, the place was busy with local workers and some tourists, the shady terrace looked very inviting and the big BBQ was sizzling. A gentleman, whom we believe is the owner (or at least the older folk who takes the order) brought us the menu, not a smile, not a word (not even in Portuguese) to tell us about the specials of the day which are always present during lunch in Portugal. He only brought us the full price menu. When he came back to take our order, I asked in Portuguese about the lunch specials ... He did not seem happy about that! He probably thought he caught 2 tourists with the full menu. We should have left right there. But we were hungry and it was almost 2 pm so we stayed. The gentleman only enumerated the 6 specials, without explaining, as we found out after, that it also included a drink each (beer and wine as well) and desert (and maybe coffee? Not sure as we did not have one). I do not pretend that everybody speak English to you when you travel abroad but, if you are in the hospitality business, at least make an effort to be pleasant with your customers! I understand and speak a bit of Portuguese (at least enough to order at the restaurant!) and I would have appreciated him at least trying to explain their lunch formula instead of trying to rip us off. When we left he was standing right at the entrance of the terrace and he did not even say thank you or goodbye. Maybe he should just work in tge kitcgen or at cashier where he doesn't need to interact...
Read moreWe have passed this place many a time on the way from the airport to vilamoura and thought it was just a simple all you can eat fish restaurant. We decided to stop for lunch on Saturday. Sat underneath the old Cork tree's in the dappled sun. The seat outside is basic but okay but that's part of its charm. They offer 2 different daily specials for €8.95 on each day Monday through to Friday, Saturday is slightly different whilst Sunday is Roast Lamb for €10 ( booking for Sunday recommended.) We elected to have the Grilled Squid and the Portuguese Steak. Both really good. Washed down with the traditional Portuguese wine, only €6 a litre! It's light and a nice lunchtime drink. I don't normally have a desert but decided to partake in the crème caramel (Pudding!!! As they called it) portion size was large..... All in all a lovely find. Will definitely be...
Read moreDefinitely recommend this lovely restaurant, idyllically situated on a lovely terrace under the trees or eat inside the traditional interior. The staff are really nice, very helpful & attentive, & the food is amazing, freshly prepared from the kitchen or outdoor bbq. The prato do dia is incredible value…(wine, beer or soft drink, bread & olives, main dish, desert & coffee for less than 10 euros each!) or chose from the a la carte menu. There’s a little kiddies area, too, so you can eat while watching the children play…. Can’t...
