Monica’s Restaurante — Restaurant in Loulé

We booked Monica’s Resturant Last night 7 for two people.At first the drive in we were a bit apprehensive as the road looks a bit like a off road gavel track.we were greeted by the hosts who were all very nice and welcoming.once seated in the lovely garden dining area we were presented with the menus.it was hard to choose as all the dishes sounded lovely.we decided on 3 starters salt pepper squid,garlic prawns and scallops all these were the best I have had before.The salt and pepper squid just melts in your mouth so perfectly done.for mains I choose the house special fish curry and my girlfriend had the monk fish skewer both served with rice.I have to say again the fish curry was the best I have ever had very mild with all types of fish and prawn amazing I wanted another portion it was that good.deserts I had zesty lemon delicious cheesecake amazing my other half had the rum and raisin brûlée also amazing all finished what a great place I have eaten at a lot of fine dining restaurants and I have now added this to one of my top world venues great job guys will be back again for more this...

50 Euro for a steak, vegetables and house wine, literally none of it extraordinary for this price. The steak was tough, the prawns pathetic for the additional cost, the wine... no words.

Add to this unfortunate experience, Monica's adds their own tip! As the customer I feel I get to decide if I'm going to pay extra for good service.

Honestly if you're willing to spend this amount on a steak, go to U & Co, down the road, get an outstanding steak with excellent service for a comparable price.

Enttäuschend Aufgrund der sehr guten Bewertungen auf TripAdvisor haben wir nach vielen Jahren Urlaub in Vale do Lobo erstmalig dieses Restaurant besucht. Auf den ersten Blick wirkt es ganz charming, auf den zweiten Blick doch eher wie ein Imbiss auf dem Campingplatz. Das Essen ist im Vergleich zu den zahlreichen sehr guten Restaurants in der Umgebung eher unterdurchschnittlich, die Preise dafür eher überdurchschnittlich. Wir haben zu zweit für Vorspeise, Hauptgericht, 1Flasche Haussekt und 1 Flasche Hauswein 113 € bezahlt, Service war im Preis nicht inbegriffen!!! Das gibt es nirgendwo sonst in der Algarve. Die Vorspeise bestand aus 3 „Tapas“ für 2 Personen zum Preis von 15 € und enthielt 2 camaroes, ein paar Tomatenscheiben mit Ziegenkäse und 2 Frühlingsrollen. Als Hauptgericht hatten wir ein Steak mit langweiliger Gemüsebeilage und Pommes Frites, sowie Hühnchenteile mit Pommes Frites. Ok, aber wirklich nichts Besonderes. Kein Dessert, kein Café, kein Digestif. Im Vergleich hierzu am Vorabend ein traumhaftes Menü im legendären Antonio ta Certo mit köstlichen Vorspeisen bestehend aus Anchovis, verschiedenen frischen Salaten, einer herrlichen, fangfrischen Dorade und gekrönt von einem himmlischen Dessert (hausgemachter Apfelkuchen mit Vanilleeis) samt Café, dies alles begleitet von 2 Flaschen sehr gutem Weißwein. Der Preis insgesamt 111€; Service selbstverständlich inklusive und das ganze in einer wunderbaren Location mit Meerblick. Auch bei 2 Passos, im wunderbaren Figueral, im Casavostra, im Aquarelle, im Casa do Campo, um nur einige Beispiele zu nennen, bekommt man sehr viel mehr...
