A Memorable Dining Experience with Excellent Service
We recently visited this restaurant and were thoroughly impressed by the quality of both the food and the service. The dishes are of a high standard, and the staff are not only efficient but also genuinely friendly.
For first-timers, the restaurant offers a guided experience, suggesting dishes based on your preferences for meat, vegetables, and spice levels. While this personalised attention is appreciated, it may leave you feeling a bit restricted if you have your eye on specific items from the menu.
Our evening began with an invitation from the head Chef /Patron to sample some starters before discussing main course options. The starters were delightful, setting a high bar for what was to come. We opted for the "walking menu" option on recommendation, which included an assortment of chicken dishes—two mild and three spicier varieties. Each was enjoyable, with one dish being particularly outstanding, although its name escaped us.
Dessert was another guided choice, featuring an excellent selection of ice creams. Despite being quite full by this point, we decided to share these treats.
We plan to return but will take a more hands-on approach in selecting our main courses, as there were several tempting options we have yet to try. Observing other diners, particularly regulars, we noted that they tended to order directly from the menu. Opting for the restaurant’s recommendations can lead to a higher bill, as prices aren't discussed upfront, which is something to keep in mind.
Overall, we had a fantastic experience. As someone with experience in hospitality, I can appreciate the effort the head waiter puts into maintaining a seamless service. The restaurant fills up quickly, a testament to its popularity and the need for the staff to be on top of their game.

Despite a slightly overwhelming choice mechanism for newcomers, our dining experience was exceptional, making it easy to give this restaurant a five-star review. The adaptability to cater to diverse tastes, including those of very fussy eaters, certainly adds...
Read moreDining at The United Kitchens of India in Vale do Lobo was one of the most memorable experiences we’ve had in the Algarve. The food is superb. Deeply authentic, beautifully balanced, and clearly prepared with enormous care. But what truly sets it apart is the personal touch and the exceptional leadership of Rao Narayan, the head chef.
Rao’s attention to detail is remarkable. He didn’t just oversee the kitchen; he took time to visit our table, explain the ingredients and their origins, and genuinely made sure everything was perfect for us. It’s rare to see that level of dedication. You can tell he takes immense pride in every single dish that leaves his kitchen. The flavours were layered and true to Indian tradition, but adjusted thoughtfully to our preferences without losing authenticity.
Service throughout the evening was equally impressive. Staff were warm, professional, and attentive without ever being overbearing. The timing of the courses was spot on. Our drinks were perfectly matched to the food, and the entire meal felt seamless and unhurried.
It’s clear Rao has built a team that shares his commitment to excellence. There’s a real sense of pride and care in every part of the experience. The United Kitchens of India isn’t just another restaurant. It’s a place that makes you feel welcomed and valued, while delivering truly outstanding Indian cuisine.
If you’re in Vale do Lobo and want a meal that feels special, personal, and genuinely memorable, I can’t recommend it highly enough. We will be...

Owner/Chef Narayon was originally going to become a monk, but he chose to become a chef.
He is passionate about food: "Food is so important to people. Many people live unconsciously, and eat something that has a lot of additives because it tastes good, but don't look at whether it is healthy. You also have to eat what suits you, whether you have a earth, fire or water sign. And it is best to eat with your hands, then you taste the taste better. Food is the medicine for the body."
The food is delicious! Completely different flavors than at the more touristic Indian restaurants.
The service is friendly and polite, but except for the owner and the lady, I kind of miss the real sense of hospitality with them. That could be improved a bit.
Highly recommended!
