O ARCO — Restaurant in Loulé

Amazing chef(the owner of the restaurant) who has 36 years of experience running the restaurant. Food was just wow. We are a Korean family and this was our first time to try protugese food and it was a good choice to visit O Arco restaurant. Homemade patè with variety of bread was given to start with. We ordered fish soup and grilled prawn as a starter and it was just fantastic. My daughter had a small version of fish fillet with steamed veges with potatoes. Kids menu is not on the menu but he made a smaller portion for my 5 year old daughter. It was a very healthy dish at the same time delicious! This was another personal touch from the restaurant. Excellent service 10 out 10. Attention to details such as removing all the breadcrumbs on the table using the tool (such a long time havent seen this tool 😂) after the meal. Juao was such a nice owner who knows how to satisfy customers. I recommend to try his own recipe dish such as Kubbert fillet with almond sauce on top. My husband ordered beef fillet portugese style with potatoes and the sauce was just remarkable. Definately willing to come back to this restaurant for sure!!!!Thank u for giving us this chance to experience brilliant dish...

Beautiful authentic Portuguese restaurant We were lucky enough to bag a table at this amazing eatery. I googled traditional Portuguese restaurant and that is exactly what I found. We were greeted like we were friends by John and his lovely assistant. The service was great not rushed so don’t expect that it’s a proper restaurant where you can savour the beautiful food, drink and warm welcome. It isn’t a huge menu but for me that is when you know what is on offer will be good and omg it was. Prices were good too. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again or recommend. We always choose our favourite restaurant to return to on our last night of a holiday so was delighted when I called and John was able to accommodate us. Another review said the service was slow I wonder if you were reviewing the wrong restaurant? It is small you can’t sit in a corner and be forgotten and why not ask for your order instead of moaning after. Basically myself and my husband loved it. Top tip try the homemade ice cream it is superb. Thank you John and your team for a fab experience and being so kind and welcoming to us...

I happened across Restaurante O Arco looking for highly rated restaurants somewhat close to where I was staying and made a note of the other rave reviews. Bottom line up front: this place is what you are hoping it will be.

The dishes are delicious and unique. Recalling the authenticity of the region and paying homage while being new and different enough to evoke excitement.

Adding to the experience is John, the owner and his exceedingly competent staff who strive to make your evening memorable and enjoyable.

Our dinner consisted of appetizers, various fish courses, and dessert. We had red and white whine. The sole and banana dory were standout dishes, and the bacon wrapped dates and shrimp on a bed of avocado mouse had us arguing over who won best appetizer pick.

Bottom line is if you made it this far, make reservations and enjoy that special meal you are looking for.
