We come to Quarteira 2 or 3 times a year, and came down from the apartment this time to see Tertulia's House - which hadn't been there before.
The idea of having Venezuelan food in Portugal was too good to pass up (always nice to have a bit of variety) so we thought we'd try it.
The place was quiet - it was a Saturday lunchtime - but hopefully it'll pick up in time, once the good word gets out. The service was wonderful, helpful with the menu, kind and friendly.
And the food was something else. We only had traditional Venezuelan dishes, although they do have the usual Portuguese / Tourist standards... and everything was divine.
I've been dreaming of the taquenos - which are like a cheese filled pastry stick- since we left. We had a mixed platter of arepas and the Pabellon criollo which we were told is the national dish of Venezuela! Shredded beef, black beans, rice, avocado and beautifully soft plantain.
We shared a pistachio cheesecake for desert despite being stuffed, but my god it was good.
Reasonable priced, but great value for the unique food in the area. Can't...
Read moreLoved this meal. Best one of our stay in Quarteira. Really welcoming, the food and drinks were excellent (caipirinha for the win!) and reasonably priced. Lovely, friendly service. Steaks (Picanha and Rump, I think) were perfectly cooked to spec. The sides were excellent too (particular kudos for the beans that accompany the picanha - delicious!). The prawn (shrimp) starter was excellent, too. We shared one plate between three and had to play rock, scissors, paper for the last two. PLEASE make the number of prawns divisible by the number of guests…! The only thing I’d change about that dish would be a choice of dip - the supplied BBQ sauce really worked, but I’d have loved aïoli as an alternative. Still delicious, though. The authentic Venezuelan dishes (arepas in our case) were great, too. We’ll certainly visit again. Thank you for a...
Read moreSimply fantastic, and not just the food, which was absolutely delicious.
The staff went out of their way with patience and kindness, as we had a three year old who needed some extra attention from us, but the staff could not have been more accommodating. They made him a perfect dinner which he enjoyed a lot, and he's picky.
Not only that, it was very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food and service and the restaurant itself is both spotless, classy and has a lovely ambience.
I simply can't say enough good things. If you like Indian food and are anywhere near Quarteira, you'd be silly not to visit.
Obviously,...
