Casa da Madeira is now under new ownership. Gabriel and his family are our new hosts and have updated the "house" and menu. Lovely food and welcome. Back again and enjoying the hospitality of the house of Madeira. We enjoyed the beef skewers with polenta which my wife and I thought was the best steak/beef we have had in a long time, even better than when we visited the island of Madeira and had it there! But it's not what they brought to us. They insisted we had ordered fried fish with rice. My Portuguese isn't great but I'm an expert on ordering cod fish with cream as it's a favourite dish, so I know I did not order something I couldn't pronounce. They insisted and insisted so in the end we tried it rather than make a scene, but the fish was just bones so we left it. It cost 28euros. Just be careful what you order....
