Arrogant and egotistical staff. Didn't allow us to combine our tables out front for a larger group, pretended to be unable to speak English when we wanted tap water (we were not inclined to give a profit to them given poor service).
In general my experience of this part of Portugal was highly negative. Just down the road from this cafe the far right Chega party was recruiting activists, I got the sense this cafe owner felt everyone who entered her cafe should speak HER version of Portuguese to be able to access a simple service.
