Maresco Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Póvoa de Varzim

Hello i would say goodnight but just night because there was no good night tonight . We arrived at what we thought was a nice spot, nice beach view but as soon as we walked in we told the hostess that we made a reservation through a call a day prior. the lady told us that we had a reserved table and one second later she told us we didn’t and how we had to sit in the waiting room to get out of the way, this caught us off guard because she could’ve said it in a nicer tone but whatever. we get sat down and ordered our meals at 8, the first plate only arrived at 9:30 and that was an appetizer… of clams…. when the food arrived everything came very scattered and my plate came but without the sides, the sides took an additional 30 min to arrive back at the table when i had already aten the meal so it wouldn’t get cold. We brought this to attention to our serve Rui, who was a disrespectful bastard. He would not apologize for the delay of the food, instead he would say that we were wrong and that the food always comes out like that. not to mention it was very cold so we asked for blankets as they said they had and we had to ask an additional 5 more times for the blankets…. bizarre… Then rui the server dropped a cup on my husband head and with that he still blamed us for everything. I wish the restaurant the best but i respectfully will never...

Overall, a great place, good food, attentive service, nice atmosphere. Nix sangria is very refreshing, would be perfect for a hot day. Salmon tartar was Supreme! Veal medallions were great too, though I was missing some salt, but other than that - very tasty and fancy serving style :) the other table, when they saw it, wanted to order it too :). The fish soup was so-so (and the only reason for 4 stars) - I think that macaroni don't fit there at all (they don't add taste, and are there only as a filling). Pavlova dessert was prepared perfectly, exactly as expected. The service was very attentive, compliments to a young waiter who spoke English. Even though I complained about the soup, the waiter was very receptive and right away went to the kitchen to inform them of our complaint, and came back with apologies from the chefs. Came here under a local recommendation. The location is stunning with a backdrop of the beach and sea. If you time it right you will see a beautiful sunset while you dine. It was quiet when we were there. Likely it is busier at weekends. Service is prompt and professional. There are mains between two that two of our party went for. The platter is carried out with theatrical fireworks. Nice touch. Seafood was perfectly cooked and looked stunning. The two who ordered the seafood platter said the seafood was delicious. Portion sizes, though, are small. Sushi was delicious if again portions were small. We decided to have dessert. The pavlova was not fresh, nor was the cream.
