Hotel Costa Verde — Hotel in Póvoa de Varzim

I do not recommend this hotel. Rooms were fine, but the service was severely lacking and abysmal. I accidentally left an important personal belonging in my room and realized it after I had checked out. I called the hotel 9 times throughout the evening and emailed twice. No one responded to me. Finally, on the 10th call, a receptionist answered the phone at 10:30 pm and told me that they already threw my personal item away. As a person with a medical condition who really required this item, this was appalling and totally unacceptable. When I mentioned this to another hotel, they were shocked and said they themselves have a policy of keeping guests’ items in lost and found for 4 months. This hotel, Hotel Costa Verde, threw away my personal belonging in less than 12 hours of my checking out. And to top it off, they were totally unresponsive. I do not recommend this hotel at all. Unfortunately during our stay in the top floor suite we had to endure renovation work being carried out without warning. Renovation works included the entire hotel hallways and stairs(14 floors) including unoccupied rooms having carpets removed and replaced. Ignoring the noise,mess and numerous trip hazards the carpet fitters used copious amounts of solvents and glue to fix the carpets. As a result of rising fumes our suite became filled with vapours rendering the room barely usable for two of the four days stay. When we discussed the situation with staff and the fact that we had to sleep with the large balcony doors fully open all night they showed no concern and said it had to be done and nothing they could do about it. Wanted a reasonably priced hotel for a week as we were attending a nearby wedding.|This hotel was immaculate, so clean, nice sized rooms, maid service daily and super air conditioning.|The only small complaint we had was breakfast,… nothing wrong with the food, it was just tables were not cleared enough, we ended up clearing a table ourselves most days and they ran out of clean bowls, glasses & plates, ended up having cereal out of a coffee cup one morning!|Other than that, it is so convenient for the beach, just a short walk away and plenty of places to eat and drink.|There is a super little supermarket literally next door, so handy and a fabulous bakers too.|All in all we had a great time at...
