Every time we visit Portugal, we make it a point to stop at the Profresco Fishmarket and restaurant no matter the distance—it's an experience we can't miss.
From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the sight of a fresh fish counter that immediately tells you what you're in for—only the best. The selection is always top-notch, with a variety of fresh fish and seafood that's as beautiful to look at as it is to eat.
The quality of the food is outstanding. Each dish is crafted with care, highlighting the natural flavors of the sea. Whether it's grilled fish, seafood platters, or any of their daily specials, you can taste the freshness in every bite. The flavors are perfectly balanced and truly authentic to Portuguese cuisine.
What makes this place even more special is the staff. They're not only friendly and kind, but they also go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. If you're unsure about how to eat a particular dish, they're always there to guide you with a smile. Their hospitality adds a warm and welcoming touch that makes you feel right at home.
In short, the restauramt is more than just a restaurant—it's a must-visit destination for any seafood lover. We can't recommend it enough, and we'll continue to make the trip every time we're...
Read moreEnjoyed Profesco immensely!! We live here in Portugal and saw a video on YouTube that praised Profesco so we thought we would give it a try. We have family visiting from the US and we wanted to give them "a taste of Portugal" and the seafood that Portugal is famous for. What a perfect place to share fresh Portuguese seafood!! We had a wonderful variety of foods, ranging from the regular starters (olives, butter, bread and cheese) to octopus salad, a "dressed crab" appetizer with toast, moving on to a hamburger, seafood linguine, deep-fried cuttlefish and grilled salmon. Accompanying this was a bottle of white wine with the appetizers and then a red wine with the entrees (both from Fitapreta in the Alentejo region). Dessert (for two of us) along with espresso and cappuccino for all capped our afternoon experience at Profesco. Would we go back ourselves? Definitely!! Will we bring other visitors here? For sure!! Enjoy some food or wine here and bring some friends to share the...
Read moreI would like to be more positive about this restaurant. But I will start with the things they did do well. The menu was clear and well laid out. The food was simple, but of good quality. The welcome at the fish counter inside the door was warm and friendly. There is plentiful parking outside. Inside the ambience is good and the dining area is well decorated and the toilets were clean. However, we felt that the service offered by the staff in the dining area was not overly friendly. Efficient and professional, yes, but we did not feel it was welcoming. Of course it could just have been a bad day, but this was our view. We also felt the value offered was not as good as other local restaurants which we experienced that do not have such an illustrious reputation. The location, surrounded by fish factories, industrial units and with a patchy grass verge overlooking the sea is not to everybody’s taste. This would have been four stars if the service had been...
