Every time we visit Portugal, we make it a point to stop at the Profresco Fishmarket and restaurant no matter the distance—it's an experience we can't miss.

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the sight of a fresh fish counter that immediately tells you what you're in for—only the best. The selection is always top-notch, with a variety of fresh fish and seafood that's as beautiful to look at as it is to eat.

The quality of the food is outstanding. Each dish is crafted with care, highlighting the natural flavors of the sea. Whether it's grilled fish, seafood platters, or any of their daily specials, you can taste the freshness in every bite. The flavors are perfectly balanced and truly authentic to Portuguese cuisine.

What makes this place even more special is the staff. They're not only friendly and kind, but they also go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. If you're unsure about how to eat a particular dish, they're always there to guide you with a smile. Their hospitality adds a warm and welcoming touch that makes you feel right at home.

In short, the restauramt is more than just a restaurant—it's a must-visit destination for any seafood lover. We can't recommend it enough, and we'll continue to make the trip every time we're...

Enjoyed Profesco immensely!! We live here in Portugal and saw a video on YouTube that praised Profesco so we thought we would give it a try. We have family visiting from the US and we wanted to give them "a taste of Portugal" and the seafood that Portugal is famous for. What a perfect place to share fresh Portuguese seafood!! We had a wonderful variety of foods, ranging from the regular starters (olives, butter, bread and cheese) to octopus salad, a "dressed crab" appetizer with toast, moving on to a hamburger, seafood linguine, deep-fried cuttlefish and grilled salmon. Accompanying this was a bottle of white wine with the appetizers and then a red wine with the entrees (both from Fitapreta in the Alentejo region). Dessert (for two of us) along with espresso and cappuccino for all capped our afternoon experience at Profesco. Would we go back ourselves? Definitely!! Will we bring other visitors here? For sure!! Enjoy some food or wine here and bring some friends to share the...

I would like to be more positive about this restaurant. But I will start with the things they did do well. The menu was clear and well laid out. The food was simple, but of good quality. The welcome at the fish counter inside the door was warm and friendly. There is plentiful parking outside. Inside the ambience is good and the dining area is well decorated and the toilets were clean. However, we felt that the service offered by the staff in the dining area was not overly friendly. Efficient and professional, yes, but we did not feel it was welcoming. Of course it could just have been a bad day, but this was our view. We also felt the value offered was not as good as other local restaurants which we experienced that do not have such an illustrious reputation. The location, surrounded by fish factories, industrial units and with a patchy grass verge overlooking the sea is not to everybody’s taste. This would have been four stars if the service had been...

Stay clear of this place if ordering the seafood platter. We came here after seeing the Eater video on YT with high hopes. The seafood platter is 80 euros. It’s only quality was its large size. Unfortunately, almost every single element on the platter was not only not good, but not fresh. The gooseneck barnacles were the best and only OK part. The shrimp tasted fishy. The oysters looked dead so we did not even try them. The snails were not tasty. The lobster claws tasted funny. The crab smelled off so we did not try. The muscles were OK, and that is being nice. The open crab puree was disturbing to the eyes and mouth. We barely ate a quarter of the platter and left promptly. Unsurprisingly, we see at the entrance the seafood platters that are pre-prepared, just waiting on ice for an order to go out. Please do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money on bad and potentially sickeningly non fresh seafood.

A great sea food restaurant. We had the sea food board, which is a bit more on the pricey side for students like us, but it is definitely worth it if you like quality sea food based on its natural taste and not marinated. We came in when they had a bit of a rush, which sort of justifies this, but we felt kind of neglected. Lady at the entrance was very kind and welcoming, the other staff sort of wasn't. Based on the price point and "status" I would expect slightly better care for a customer. The servise wasn't bad, it was just below what you would expect. For example when you order a large water you just get a big plastic bottle, as if from a shop, handed to you, which feels a bit odd, a carafe would be much better. Otherwise great food, would recommend to try it out :)

Why you got one star less? When we came to the restaurant I really didn't feel welcome. It was a Lady sitting at the "reception " and wasn't polite at all. She was rolling her eyes all the time and she said that they have only one table available outside on the sun and is nothing more she can do. Basically I feel like she judge us because we didn't wear Gucci brand. So we were about to sit there and very nice Gentleman who is working there came to serve us and made for us an amazing place to sit in 1 minute. So basically if you want you can. Bad experience from the beginning but thanks to the Gentelmen I did enjoy. The food was good, nice view, and amazing Sangria. ☺
