Toca do Texugo — Restaurant in Peniche

Been a while since i’ve had a bad meal in Portugal.

This place is ridiculous!

My review is mostly Service related:

1. We arrived, the messed up our order and received our meals 1 hour later!

2. The server, came to the table to ask for drinks and disappeared…

3. one of the table paper covers fell on the floor and the server reused it ! Gross !

4. Our olives dish had a big piece of potato skin in it, shows perhaps that they might have reused it from another table ?!

5. As i am paying i mentioned the poor quality of service and the wait, and the cashier which was the owners daughter started laughing, and not believing that we waited an hour…

6. The walked around multiple times visiting tables saying how He does not sing much anymore due to his hearing problems… as if we cared.

7. The food is way to expensive for what you get, 1 piece of salmon and a squid skeer + few olives, bread and 1/2L house wine for €50 ! Its a rip off for the area.

Only one tall server, had the courage to say something nice and try to fix issues.

Unreal. There are many other options at much better price/quality ration in the area.

NOT...

BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN!!!

The fish is out of this world, order it before hand because is a must and it’s worth 100%.

The service is super nice and plus they are very generous. In the middle of the service you might see the owner singing traditional Portuguese music (Fado) and he will come to your table to check on you.

É difícil para mim em palavras interpretar a minha experiência, me senti tão em casa que poderia dizer que a expressão para isso seria "Tinha vontade de ficar para o jantar" antes de o Sr Antônio chegar a nossa mesa já tinha dito ao meu marido, foi o melhor peixe que até hoje já comi.....mas não bastava isso, não bastava a atmosfera pitoresca e acolhedora, foi muito mais ao ouvir a história do lugar, ao Senhor António a me contar que era neto no Sr Texugo e que a alcunha vinha de muito tempo atrás, não bastasse os lindos fatos, ouvi do Sr António um lindo fado quase que cantado para mim, fui as lágrimas, é mais que um restaurante de comida de excelência, é mais que uma atmosfera de acolhimento, é qualquer coisa indizível em palavras, se forem a Peniche, experimentem esta experiência e digo-vos como a mim......será inesquecível, obrigada Sr António, a Senhora Esposa, filhos e netos que grelharam o peixe em excelência, a minha gratidão eterna, aí voltarei se Deus assim me permitir, mas de facto jamais os esquecerei, o meu...
