Very typical Portuguese padaria & pasteleria. Always busy and bustling, with lots of freshly baked breads and desserts. It's also the only place (here & their other location in Lagos) that I have found bolas de berlim in any flavour other than egg cream or chocolate. Here they had strawberry! Finally, a place that realises jelly doughnuts are a good thing. And they are popular, I think, because I got the last one that day.
Many cakes, and a diversity not found in many other cafés. There is a lot of choice here. There is also a lot of seating, which is great.
Staff are attentive and efficient. It really helps to speak at least some Portuguese here, so try. They are nice about it. Also, I really do enjoy the swipe card idea. It makes ordering and paying so easy.
Also, at Christmas, they sell some of the best sonhos de natal I have tried so far. Super fresh, perfect lightness and flavour. Delightful.
I would give 5 stars if the coffee was better. It is very old-school. Not done like Italians do cappuccino, but rather everything is some variation of galão. Every time I get coffee here, it seems either watery, weak, or way too much milk and lukewarm. But I am sure espresso is just fine. I will just stick with...
Read moreI've been an occasional costumer of this bakery since the day it has opened. Yesterday while visiting Portimão; I returned here for breakfast. For my disappointment I was rudely received by the bald employee. At first; (as I enter the establishment); I am rudely received by this employee. After placing my order (again rude) he tells me that to make order I would have to sit first. (Alright, house rules are house rules. Just don't need to be rude or impolite). As I sat; a old couple that came after me; sat near my table. The rude bald waiter simply ignored me and went to attent the couple instead. As I stood watching i thanked him for the horrible service and left. As an hotelier; looking towards quality; I no longer this establishment. Furthermore, after contacting some locals; many reported having the same problem and therefore also not returnig to the...
Read moreReview: Red Velvet Cake with Macaron Decoration
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of tasting a Red Velvet cake that far exceeded my expectations. From the very first bite, I was captivated by the perfectly balanced, moist texture of the cake.
But the real highlight was the decoration. The macarons delicately placed on the side were not only visually stunning but also added a delightful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the softness of the cake
In summary, this Red Velvet cake is a true delight for the senses, both visually and in taste. I highly recommend it to any pastry lover. It's a dessert that will surely please even the most...
