Grão d'Areia — Restaurant in Torres Vedras

This restaurant is located on the rocks slightly overhanging the beach, so the view is breathtaking anytime of the day and especially at sunset. They don't take bookings because of the success of the place. From June to September, it's always full! We visited four times in the space of 6 weeks.

This is a family run business, the service is warm and friendly but the place can get a little loud. However, we loved every minute of it! All staff speak good English and make you feel at ease.

We started with clams, Spanish style mussels and had the octopus and a steak, both as main courses. We washed it down with some "vinho verde" (green wine). All were very tasty and I particularly loved the octopus!

One thing to know though is to make sure to be very specific with your order as if you leave the boss recommends items for you, he always picks the most expensive ones ;p

A very affordable seaside restaurant with wonderful views over the Praia de Santa Rita. Grão d’Areia has an extensive and varied menu, catering for most tastes and budgets regardless if you want a sandwich, a snack, a very good brunch or a full on 3 course. Everything is cooked from fresh and served by a professional friendly and dedicated staff. Please do look out for their daily specials, all of which are highly recommended. The wine list whilst not the most extensive provides plenty of options to cover most tastes and budgets. I would recommend booking in advance as it’s very popular during the high season. Grão de Areia has been a favourite of our for a long time, either for coffee or lunch

Food: Has always been consistent, quite diverse, traditional menu. However today’s toast, even tho we asked for country loaf, the flavor profile wasn’t at its best. “Happens”

Service: Always quite direct and simple, and today wasnt any different.

Atmosphere: The view from the tables is absolute stunning, table setting quite simple.
