Restaurante Salitre — Restaurant in Vila do Conde

I hesitated and almost walked past as I couldn't quite get the measure of the place from the outside. However, this restaurant is outstanding and I would happily give it six stars. There's a spacious conservatory with sea views, the staff were polite and welcoming and explained that while most of the menu items were priced for two they could be adapted for one person. I chose grllled red snapper which came as a very generous portion of perfectly cooked fish with clams and vegetables. Price with the usual bread and pate, half a bottle of wine,lime pie and a coffee was €33. The place was spotlessly clean too.

We went to lunch at this seafood restaurant. Seating is limited so reservations are essential. It appears that on Sunday there are two seatings, one at noon then a second at two or half past two. The dishes are designed for 2-3 people, even a family of four.

We had the sea bass and a fish called galo locally, fresh and grilled with clams plus potatoes and cabbage as a side dish. Very filling.

One of my favorite restaurants around Porto. Very friendly and courteous staff, the food (only tried fish and deserts here) is superb! You simply can’t go wrong ordering any kind of fish. Huge portions of delicious fish. Wine is amazing. Deserts are always a delight and a wonderful treat.
