Taj Indian restaurant — Restaurant in Vila do Conde

We have visited Taj for dinner and it was a very pleasant experience. At first sight, the restaurant doesn't say much because the decoration is very simple, nothing fancy at all. But we were pleasantly surprised initially by the friendliness and kindness of the staff and then by the food. Everything we had ordered was so tasty and perfectly cooked. The naan bread with garlic and cheese is amazing, we could have only eaten that for the entire evening. We had chicken korma with basmati rice and also lamb madras which were all delicious; for desert we went for the pistachio kulfi (amazing) and the Gulab Jamun (which was a bit too sweet for our taste). Taj is one of the restaurants that I make a point to visit. It made this list for a reason. The food is consistently wonderful, the atmosphere is consistently warm and it’s one of the few places where I can always share a full-dining experience with friends who have dietary restrictions. There are a lot of good reasons to this place.

My wife and I ate here yesterday after strolling down the beach from Póvoa de Varzim. We like to try different things when we come and we are slowly working through the menu. I started with the vegetable samosas, which were perfectly crispy and flavorful. For my main course, I had the chicken tikka masala, Lamb curry and it was absolutely delicious – rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The garlic naan was soft and fluffy, a perfect accompaniment.
