Ciao Bella — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

Owner/ manager was very nice & helpful with our questions. We ate here 2xs- once for lunch and I had '4 Seasons' pizza & a beer. It was OK- I am used to lots of sauce in the US & lots of choices for meat & vegetables- like a 'loaded pizza' for example. This pizza had a thin crust, little bit of sauce, very small sprinkling of mushrooms & ham, lots of black olives. I pd extra for onions. The angle of my photo makes it look like alot more than there actually was. And no garlic- who makes any pizza with no garlic?! Still, it was good when you are hungry 😋 We were able to eat in the outside room- a glassed in area with all windows & plants & a spectacular view of the ocean!! Slight rain going on & so relaxing, except busy sounds of customers. Since this restaurant is next door to our Airbnb & one of the open restaurants for dinner on Sundays we decided to eat here again & try the pasta. I chose a pasta with shrimp, garlic & hot sauce. Delicious!! 9 shrimp with the heads on- nest in the noodles & just enough of the flavors above to coat the pasta. Much more flavor than the pizza I chose at lunch. I sipped a glass of good red wine with it. We were not able to sit in the outside room as they closed it off for fear of an incoming storm. Again, restaurant was busy. Very nice waiters, chefs, delicious food, good wine & same nice host who recognized us when we came in for the 2nd time in the same day. We arrived to the restaurant 5min prior to the reservation. The restaurant was quite full and it was very hot inside. The owner or manager was there and did not greet us nicely. He sounded rather indifferent. We ordered food and my pregnant wife noted to the lady who took our order that it was too hot and if she would mind turning on the Air con. The lady simply said that it was hotter outside and left. My wife had to go out for a walk until the food was ready. The actual food was good, but the portions could be bigger. We were just eager to leave as it was too hot to enjoy.
