Restaurante Zizi — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

The food was really nice with fresh fish and well cooked everything, tasteful and simple seasoning. Beware that they charge €3,50 per person for olives, crackers and tuna that they put on the table, whether you want it or not. That's like the entrance fee.

The mood was, however, ruined by the incredibly insecure waiter. His English was sufficient, but he rushed every action and couldn't even let me finish my sentences at most times. He just said OK to everything, and then some of our orders was wrong or missing. Not very attentive when we wanted contact and took so long to come back and cut the rest of our large fish, so it had gone cold.

All in all, not terrible service, but too rushed. If he had just chilled out and dared to ask when he wasn't positive that he understood, we would have had a 5 star experience. (Prices are really high, but the food is good and the...

We were SO lucky to have been able to secure a table outside without a reservation, but I'd highly recommend calling for a reservation a day in advance to be safe. The dining experience was fantastic. The food was very special, beautifully prepared, and charmingly presented. Our servers were particularly delightful, one of which we chatted up quite a bit and learned a lot about the history of the restaurant and the people working there - a family-run business with most people working there having been friends since childhood, growing up on that very beach which they enjoy a drink together after work every night as a big, extended family. And then, of course, the sunset. Ugh. It'll pull at your heart....

We came to this restaurant on the basis of recommendation from our host. As a family, we expect it may be too much. They have great references for food. What I don’t understand. The quality of service is perfect but the food is very very average. There should be great seafood. We tried three dishes and none of them was great. Shrimps were not well cooked, too oily. Fish soup was not that bad, but very average.

Four €80 I should say what can I get. But when I spend €100 I can have exquisite dinner in Porto where every dish will be a marvelous surprise.
