This restaurant was my first taste of Russian cuisine and it couldn't have set a higher standard. I tried a starter, a main course, and a dessert and they were all excellent. For a starter, I had potato pancakes with salmon, cream cheese, and salmon caviar and it was exquisite. After finishing it, I contemplated ordering more of it. For a main, I ordered the stroganoff. It was also delicious. I'm used to eating stroganoff served on a bed of noodles but this was served with potatoes. They were out of mashed potatoes for the day but they have me roasted potatoes instead. The roasted potatoes were tasty but the stroganoff sauce was so good that I was craving the mashed potatoes since it would have sopped up the excess sauce much better. For dessert, I had a traditional Russian honey cake. It was good but nothing extraordinary. It had some small fruits in it, either very small cranberries or very sour raisins, that I didn't care for and didn't think it complemented the rest of the cake very well. Overall, it was a delicious meal and I'd like to go back again and try more...
Read moreAfter viewing the St. Isaac's Cathedral we google searched to find restaurants nearby. Teplo gave a rating of 4.7 and a 5 mins walkable distance from the Cathedral. It feels like a quaint little place. The dining furniture and the chairs are different for every table. It may look like a small place when you enter. But it's quite large with a dessert counter and a small play area for the kids. We surely missed the entrance:) We ordered the Bruschetta with mashed chickpea and avocado, Mushroom soup with sour cream, Fried codfish with stewed spinach. All were delicious and the presentation of the dishes were also good. Red Berry drink was yummy. Our 21 months old son also enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and helped with choosing the dishes as per our preferences. There's a small courtyard outside the restaurant with toys and games for the kids to play. It's a great place to be. I would definitely recommnend it and will...
Read moreVery good restaurant. The menu is an interesting mix of cuisine from Europe and a few Asian dishes dashed with many Russian dishes. The food itself is very good. The drinks selection is varied.
I had the margarita bruchetta and meatball linguini, along with a Russian beer. All were tasty and service was prompt.
The restaurant is quite large but separated into many smaller rooms each sporting a homely decor. Overall it makes the place feel very comfortable and cosy, which fits the theme of grandma's cooking.
The waiters are helpful and speak English, so travelers make sure to try this place out.
The prices seem to be in line with what's expected locally, and some dishes are actually very cheap...
